[2.4] low life Mjolner supertank done right by Rico
If it wasn't for the fact that I have work starting on Monday and have basically 10 hour days until Saturday, I would be able to test out the Alpha's Howl version. BUT, with no time...can't. >< Still, most of the theory has been done, so should just be fandangling the gear together and seeing how well it works. :P

Well I set up the initial Alpha's Version but I haven't done a ton of maps yet. I went from 7330 ES to 6331, so lost 1000 ES. There are a few different set ups we can use depending on how offensive or defensive we need to go. I'm currently using my 6l shavs to do 5 auras, alphas to do 3 purity auras, and two curses with blasphemy (total of 11 auras including ascendancy aura).
For my current set up I'm using haste and warlords mark as my additional auras. I switched life leech for controlled destruction in Mjolnir. The damage increase I've gotten from haste getting me to 4.97 aps with MS combined with controlled destruction is substantial. I'm still using elemental weakness as my other curse. The increase in damage also buffs the amount I'm leeching with my life leech. The no freeze addition is also nice. The only downside so far is the 1000 ES loss and losing the CWDT/IC (I haven't noticed that save me yet though) and I guess the three additional points needed to get +1 curse. Unless you have a +1 curse voll's devotion laying around >.< There are a lot of different options for this build though. We could change controlled destruction for lightning pen, then switch elemental weakness for enfeeble or temp chains for more tankiness with less damage. We can use determination instead of haste for more armor. We could use life leech in Mjolnir combined with warlords mark for insane leeching. Combine this with determination you would have similar damage to current build but double leech amount and 50%+ more armor. I'm not sure on what the best balance is between offense and defense, but as I'm only sustaining T9-11 maps Im going with the offensive and high move speed haste-warlords-controlled destruction combo. When I get to higher teir Ill probably go more defensive. So far I'm liking it a lot! I can easily hit 7K+ ES with the 3 ES nodes near the witch, level 20 or 21 discipline (I'm at 19), and item upgrades. Also I still need the charges with the intuitive leap gem, so my damage is only with 4/4 and it hits hard. Last edited by Alturas#2816 on Oct 2, 2016, 9:28:46 PM

" If your reffering to the "no life leech gem" setup so if one and only leech source is your WM than I have to disagree. I run some numbers upon this matter long before posting the guide. Theres no way Arc-Discharge-CD/Lpen with just WM as aura will outleech Arc-Discharge-Life Leech setup vs single Bosses However if you're seing an increase in life leech than it means that build is not APS capped without Haste :o BTW Test Lpen insteed CD in Mjolner. Yeah tooltip is worse but it is actualy MUCH better gem to use in Mjolner. You dont really need moar DMG for trash. You need it for bosses, and this is where it shines allowing you for much better leech as well. I've learned this the hard way with my low life Rainbownuke back in 2.3 Im eager to see your further test results / summary thoughts regarding Alphas setup! EDIT: I've run some numbers regarding physical dmg mitigation using different aura and flasks setups, here are the results: NOTE: We are talking vs 13k pure physical hit which translate into T14 Dominus Touch of God with boss dmg or crit, T15 Core Malachai smash, T14 Maze Vaal Oversoul smash. setup - % of total physical dmg reduction - armor rating at that time All with fortify up: 1) AA + Determ: 56% 34k 2) AA + Granite: 58% 41k 3) Determ + Granite: 59% 63k 4) AA + Determ + Granite: 64% 63k 5) AA + Basalt: 67% 27k 6) Determ + Basalt: 68% 40k 7) AA + Granite + Basalt: 74% 48k 8) Determ + Granite + Basalt: 77% 73k 9) AA + Determ + Granite + Basalt: 80% 73k So as you can see Determ vs AA gives about the same result. The most important factor is to use Basalt fask vs those kind of HUGE physical hits. Judging by those imo it is an overkill to run both AA and Determination. So with 5l Shavs and Aphas Howl I would use: https://poe.mikelat.com/#0PLvxtn/9b.wJb/xB3l.8Jj/A=fZ. With 6l Shavs and Aphas Howl I would use: https://poe.mikelat.com/#0PLvxtn/xB3l.sJb/tNrp.CJj/A=fZ.Zd So vs current buid gains are: Haste, HoT, freeze immunity. Herald of Thunder adds about 5% more overall DMG and its generating charges. Downside is about 1k less ES. So its basically dmg (clear speed) vs mitigation (outside maybe that freeze immunity). Unless you have 6l Shavs and plenty of lvl 4 Enlightens I vote for this setup to be unworthy! I'm gathering now some currency and will be able to test Aegis Aurora setup soon. Arc + Discharge + Lpen and with Haste and WM might work.
Tree is same. Latest guides:

I've been testing it in a few maps with Redix, but not enough to get anything conclusive.
I've been using warlords mark and I just don't like it as much as life leech in mjolnir. It's unpredictable when a hexproof enemy comes up and its reduced effectiveness on bosses is noticeable. I used both life leech and warlords mark and it's nice, but overkill. I put life leech back in over CD and put in enfeeble instead of warlords mark. Only ran one quick map but it felt much better. I would think that enfeeble would make up for the loss in 1k ES? Not sure just an assumption. I will try out the LPen just to see how it feels with warlords, but I think I'm going to move away from warlords for the time being. Another option is to use conductivity with elemental weakness. This gives increased chance to shock and does the same thing as LPen, more or less, while allowing me to keep life leech in mjolnir. Elemental weakness and conductivity would stack I'm guessing? The benefits I've seen so far over the original build is: freeze immunity, haste, enfeeble/temp chains or conductivity, and frees up belt slot for stats and resists which saved me 2 points. Being able to change curses depending on the need (clear speed or mitigation) is nice. Especially because enfeeble and conductivity are both int gems, so no rechroming required. Down sides: 1k loss of ES, no CWDT/IC, 3 points required for +1 curse, loss of vertex chaos resist and half mana cost on Molten strike. I have a 3 life on hit jewel which helps with that last one, haven't seen many instances of running out of life yet. I'm liking it more as I tweak it, and when I get to lvl 94 I'll have 26% increased ES and 5/5 charges. Combine this with lvl 20 discipline I should be very close to 7k ES. Granted with the original build at this point I could be close to 8k or more. The higher ES we go the less that 1k ES loss matters though. Still a ton of testing to be done, my play time is iffy so I'll see when I can get it in. I might as well post my tree and gear for you to critique if you don't mind. I don't actually know how to do that yet so I'll add it in with an edit soon. Edit- added gear and skill tree. I am very interested in the aegis version as well. Curious to see how it goes. One thing to note:
You can potentially save sockets on your skills if you can get a helmet that has the +2 - +3 Molten Strike Projectiles enchant on it. This saves you from needing LMP/GMP for Molten Strike, which means you can then use MS + LS + Multi S. + Faster Attacks in one piece of gear instead of splitting it up amongst two. Can open up some slots for things like Vaal Discipline or even Vaal Haste if you so prefer that for giggles, or even try and use Immortal Call on a manual cast if that suits your fancy. Of course, that depends on the enchant, but up to you in the end. :) |

That's a great idea Tanakeah. That opens up a lot of potential options.
-Vaal Discipline + increased duration and a movement skill/another vaal gem like you mentioned. Panic buttons for tough bosses or just for fun! -CWDT + IC + increased duration if you don't like manually casting IC. You could remove the increased duration and add a movement like flame dash or a vaal gem in if you prefer. Or remove the CWDT instead if you like manually casting it and do the same. -enlighten + Herald of Thunder and a movement skill or vaal gem in 3rd (Note this would require a conqueror's efficiency jewel as well as at LEAST 2 lvl 4 enlightens to fit in the extra HoT aura, one for 6l shavs and one for alphas purities, leaving you with 49 life. If you get another enlighten lvl 4 into blasphemy links as well then it leaves you with 66 life. Very expensive and seems like HoT doesn't offer enough for the investment.) All of this while losing only 1 molten strike on cast if you get the 3 additional enchant, and reducing the cost of MS by a pretty good amount. Great idea, I'm going to try to test it out when I can get that enchant. |

Hi guys!
Need your advice please! Just today finished getting all the items for this build. Atm im only missing Vinktar flask. Switched from Rico's life Mjolner build. But after 7-8 maps of low tier i died like 4-5 times, that never happend to me with my life mjolner build :D So i'm not able to facetank as i used to, even bosses on low maps like 7-8. I just can not outleach the damaged received. Plese check my gear & gems setup and tell me, where i have made a mistake ?
Spoiler
Build is absolutley the same as Rico adviced in his first post. Last edited by bakafly812#2816 on Oct 3, 2016, 1:58:02 PM
