[2.6][League Starter] Chinsol Blast Rain Chieftain - tanky Point Blank, Uber Lab, Guardians done
Sorry for late reply guys - been doing a lot of other things, and kinda forgot about this thread! D:
" I wouldn't recommend that - personally, I level up with generic 2handers. As soon as you get Chin Sol you can switch to Blast Rain. " Did all the Guardians, no crazy damage mods, but still not very hard. Chimera, in particular, was pretty easy. Shaper, on the other hand, is out of question - melee range makes it way too hard. But you can try. :) " The great benefit of it would be being ranged. But you'll be missing out on Point Blank, which is in turn more than Elemental Overload alone (which is conditional beyond standing close). Counting in Chin Sol's 100% More damage, it is more or less a 500 DPS bow. :P Lioneye's is a lil bit lower. So you'll get a a little weaker, conditional damage buff and range. You will also scale a little less w added damage from rings and so on. Overall, a fair trade. :-) " Yes, it is primarily a league starter. This build doesn't scale crazy into late game (even tho it is able to do Guardians), but its items are very cheap. Add the fact that most of the items it is using are out of meta, and you have a very cheap build. Even Kaom's isn't that expensive. :) Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance. definitely going to try that. I wonder what was your leveling tactic, what skills you used

1) Have you thought about playing this as a Juggernaut? If so, why did you decide on Chieftan? I would this build, and although it is a different skill, the tree is almost identical.
2) What about using a Lioneye's Fall Jewel right above Resolute technique? You could get MASSIVE damage from that, and dmg seems to be the main complaint with this build. Last edited by ivqancorp#3038 on Jan 7, 2017, 10:17:18 PM

Seems like a fun to play build. Ccq archery!

" 1) Jugg would make it even more tanky (which it already is), but it would lose damage and leech. It is a possibility that it might be better, tho - I haven't tried it my self. I'd say - go for it! 2) Probably, but given the reasons I can't do the Shaper (being the need of being melee range), damage doesn't change that much. You still can map very well and do all of the bosses without much of a problem, so while it might left, it won't change it's tier as a build. :P tl;dr Yes, that is an option - go for it. :D Sorry for late answers - I'm not checking this thread that often. Kaom's Roots seem like a good option now - not only it saves some points going for Unwavering Stance (namely 3), but it also has a really good life roll, paired with Temp Chain, Freeze and Chill Immunity. One problem is that is has no resistances and sockets.

Xoph's Blood is an option now, of course. :) You can replace Signal Fire, but getting other quiver which gets you comparable damage numbers could probably hard.

In regard's to Perq's idea of using Xoph's blood, you could throw in a rearguard instead of the signal fire for some added tankyness.

Hello thank you for this build, It helped me a lot because I was doing something similar but I have some questions , maybe you can help me to understand, I will appreciate it!
I found this on path of exile wiki: "Projectile damage: Although Blast Rain does not fire projectiles (and therefore cannot benefit from projectile effects such as chaining and additional projectiles), like any bow skill it does deal projectile damage and will be affected by any appropriate damage modifiers (such as Physical Projectile Attack Damage Support inventory icon.pngPhysical Projectile Attack Damage Support)." So I'm a confused about iron grip, point blank because it applies to projectiles attacks and blast rain doesn't fire projectiles, the same with resolute techique, I think that blast rain can't be evaded because it's not a projectile. Best regards and thank you. |
