ZiggyD's Community Unique Design - Names and Flavour Text

This belt seem to have a heavy duality flavor to it.

Armour vs Evasion
Fortify vs Onslaught

and the fact that you need balance to maximize its power.

This draws me towards the chinese philosophy of yin yang, the balancing of two opposing forces. This item would actually make a great recipe item where you fuse two belts into one, one offensive and one defensive.

As far as the naming and flavor (following the same train of thought) here are a few ideas:

Taiji
"Seek victory in balance."

Dragon Coil
(With the art being 2 chinese dragons eating each other's tails)
"He had scales of granite
She had the speed of lightning
Together they strike."

Confluence (as in two merging rivers)
Ebb and flow
Wash away your sins
With a confluence of blood

Flagellation Jute Vanguard Belt

Flesh, beaten but remorseful,
dyes the jute crimson.
Flesh, bloody but sinful,
dyes the ground carmine.

Hydra Coil

Strength trough ages, swift its coils.
Toughness trough time, iron his scales.
Savage from birth, its onslaught relentless.
I don't think this belt is worth it. The downside is too great...

A good belt:

will have
90-100 maximum life.
Tri-Rez
300-400 armour
+ Weapon Elemental Damage
+ Physical Damage

Look at this belt step-by-step...

400 armour + Evasion for 1% increased attack damage

12,000 armour & 12,000 evasion is achievable without ridiculous investment from the tree & good gear. That leads to + 30% increased attack damage. Doesn't quite reach the WED + Physical damage a good rare belt will have.

% Chance for Fortify on Stun

This fortify mechanic is unreliable. 15% on stun? If you're playing a physical damage melee character, you're already using the fortify gem or you dont bother with fortify b/c you generate more endurance charges than you can handle. I don't see the need for this property.

Onslaught while Fortified

20% movespeed and 20% attack speed but at what cost? The increased damage is subpar, the fortify generation mechanic is unreliable, & there's no life or resists on this item. What's with uniques not having +life or + Energy Shield rolls?

This belt puts more stress on the other pieces of gear. More + Life to make up for the lack of life on the belt... More + resists to make up for the lack of life on the belt... More high tier prefix rolls to make use of the armour/evasion attack property...

Sounds like you need ridiculous gear to make this belt worth it, but a good rare belt is better in every way.

I can't tell if all these Daresso, Merveil and whatnot "quotes" used as flavour text are actual quotes. Are we just pretending someone said something because we put a "..." - Daresso in there?
Is that allowed?

It's allowed.

"The item's name should be memorable, unique and evocative of the item. The flavour text could be a quote from a historical figure, an observation on events past or present, or simply a quippy line that ties in with the theme of the item. Together with the stats of the item, the flavour text and item name should tell a story, and help inform the artist that creates the belt's art."

Yes, i know...
I'm fine with the use of actual quotes, it's the use of make-belief quotes that i'm not comfortable with.

No matter. May the best semi-canon flavour text win.
