A Beginner's Guide to Racing

I am new to races, so my question:
Where can i see how much i can get point for each type of racing mod?! I have work, so i need to plan before hand to know approximate how much i can get point in total. Can i hope for 1000, for 500 or at least 250 point reward! |

" Fair enough. You're never going to race then, though, as they've made it clear that they're very much against the idea of conferring actual gameplay advantages (such as special uber items, for example) as race rewards. Racing in PoE was, is and will always be about glory and glory alone. |
|
" Each of the individual race info pages (accessible by just clicking on the race in the schedule) lists all the point rewards available in the race as well as what you have to achieve to get them. |
|
" Not true! First, the two things you listed aren't mutually exclusive - they can do both at the same time. Second, a number of posts here contradict that - including the person right below you who said that this kind of resource specifically makes him interested in racing when otherwise he wouldn't bother. " Not sure where this comes from...I must assume you don't, or have never raced? Most people who participate in the race season know they're not getting to the top prize, AND RACE ANYWAY. And have a lot of fun doing so. "it's completely pointless. Period." Couldn't be less true, and you should take it back. Your opinion isn't fact and in this instance, is demonstrably untrue. There are a whole spectrum of prizes you can get, both deterministically and through random lottery. AND, some people just enjoy the actual race for what it is. Now, unlike you, I'm not using this evidence to suggest that racing has a point for everyone. But to call the whole thing completely pointless based on no evidence at all is shameful, and any new players, or vets who have never raced before are thinking about giving it a go for the first time should completely disregard the above quoted post. " I used to feel that way to some extent, but they DO give you the antidote in the post. Skip all the mobs on the Twilight Strand. You should be within 20-30 seconds later than the fastest guy hitting town at worst, maybe even within 10 seconds depending on your class. Keep learning map tile sets and set a goal. Keep aggressively skipping mobs, and try to be at the ledge when people are killing Brutus. As you get better, try to get to the climb by the time the first guy kills Brutus, etc etc. YOU CAN DO IT! You just need to skip more mobs. " To regular racers it should be apparent that, despite the thoroughness of the guide, he left out quite a few advanced tips and tricks - some, perhaps, for this very reason - to preserve the 'integrity' and effort of those who have learned these things personally the hard way. But also because they would take a lot more space in an already long post. " Probably Wednesday or Thursday the Medallion Race Season webpage will be updated. The first two weeks of race events will become links to forum threads they make, and the details will be there. So keep checking back with the Events > Race Season from the main forum UI, and you'll see them soon. |

One of the best guide EVER

" Hahaha, totally true. I can never do racing, since I only get to play 1-4 hours a night, if I'm lucky. My wife is an RN with a swing shift, so every two weeks I get four or five days a week of 2-4 hours a night of gaming. The other two weeks I'm lucky to get in even a single hour of gaming a day. I married a non-gamer, unfortunately. On a separate thought I noticed "Exile Everywhere". Yeah, that would be a nightmare for me. All it takes is the wrong type of NPC exile to totally screw over specific builds. And Zacharie Desmarais is a real pain to kill. ▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄ ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒░░░░░░░░░░░░░ cipher_nemo ░░░░░░░░░░░░░▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒ ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀ Last edited by cipher_nemo#6436 on Jul 18, 2016, 1:44:59 PM

Nice summary right before the kickoff!
" Just join some races and have some fun. There is no point in calculating this in advance like some accountant. Although you do get points even if you die these days. (It just ain't that hardcore anymore.) To put it somewhat into perspective, the total number of accounts who reached a certain treshold in the last 2 seasons: Winterheart Season 1000: 60 500: 294 250: 866 100: 4995 40: 7829 10: 15000+ Soulthirst Season 1000: 45 500: 290 250: 518 100: 1337 40: 2688 10: 6823 Good luck! Heads up to GGG!
There have been several times in the past, that points did not get assigned for a very long time. Somebody from GGG (often Chris) had to assign points and migrate characters manually. This usually happened at the start of the season on the weekend when staff was low. I don't know the reason, or why it tends to be at the start of the season, but it would helpful to racers and GGG staff alike if this could be looked into ahead of time. |
