I know there are always going to be those bitter that their entries didn't get selected. That's life, unfortunately. What's entertaining to one group might not be entertaining to another. Just know that if you didn't win, many of us still enjoyed your work. I know I enjoyed scrolling through all of the entries. Too many good ones to comment on. And many where people invested a lot of work, care, and thought, but didn't make the winning list.
I invested two solid days of work into mine (may be 15 hours or so), and happy to have a winning entry, but the real fun was in the process of creating it.
Again, grats to all of the winners! :-) And Bex, thanks for hosting this contest.
Don't think most people are bitter they didn't win. They think it's nonsensical that you can win without abiding to the rules. Quite understandably they call bs.

Awesome contest idea, but there were two problems that you can hopefully learn from in future contests:
1. You didn't stick to your own rules.
Bex did say we could edit the images, so I'm not sure what you're referring to? Bex stated "You're also welcome to edit the images... The main restriction is that the image must still be recognisable after editing."

2. You didn't adequately explain what you wanted. This wasn't a caption contest; it was an image-editing contest. If that's what you really wanted, then SAY SO in advance.
They left the contest open and allowed image editing, so long as the original screen caps were recognizable. That wasn't the focus of the contest, but it was open-ended which allowed people some creative flexibility.

If you can avoid those mistakes in the future, you'll probably get a lot less negativity upon announcing the winners. I also think most of the ones you picked are not funny, but notice I don't complain about that, because humor is a matter of taste.
I also think an ACTUAL caption contest would be really fun and funny. Please make one happen!
A pure caption only contest would be fun with no image editing allowed. :-) I'd enjoy that too.
However, let's keep things in perspective. This was for fun. The prizes were no where near worth my time in monetary value. If I was doing this just for the prizes alone, I would have spent only a fraction of my time on it. I know a lot of people had fun making their entries.
you know what ggg give you nothing 950hour and the best shit i ever got is a exalt 1 time go play diablo 3 are dota 2 you can rage on noob... i still give up ggg is more gg you lost your time!
free to play ahhahaha free to die free to lose your time free to get ass rekt free to buy a real game...
Maybe I'm stupid but what is any good with the 3rd TOP? It's pretty terrible imo.
Gz to winners anyway.
except for Cipher, nothing,

Gratz to the winners, even though i dont see any captioned screenshot in there.
"Caption the screenshot" means to me, that you get a screenshot and give it a title, not draw around in it. Correct me, if im wrong, but in my understanding noone did what was asked for.. *confused*
+1,
All in all I'm disappointed. Except for Cipher, the other two in top3 are neither funny nor creative. Juicebox360 should be there, out of all those you "picked".
carrotphernelia's "caption" is just pathetic, and you chose it as a winner? lol
t1no's "captions" exceeded the RULES you created for this cometition. You could have told us the "300 signs limit" will be entirely IGNORED, then people would have more freedom. (in t1no's work even single screenshots exceed the 300 signs rule).
I am sorry, but it feels like you either chose the winners at random, or assigned that job to someone who really didn't give a crap about quality.
When the event began, BEX wrote "The winners will be selected based on entertainment value although writing skills will definitely be advantageous! ", sadly from the ones you chose, there is NO writing skills WHATSOEVER (of the top3, one is a DIRECT quotation of a song, one is a mute one-liner on a final screenshot, and one is one-word-per-screenshot), from the others the only one that comes close to having any writing skill value is paradoxally t1no, who broke the 300-signs rule and Juicebox360, who ended up lower than he should have.
You can say I'm salty, and you will be right, because I am salty as fuck and angry. I put effort into thinking about the stuff I created and quite frankly with the quality of works you "chose", this should end up in top 3 because it's eating basically everything you chose for breakfast, and shits out something like carrotphernelia's submission:
The wind howls,
the zombie growls,
the lonely hero runs.
Gulls over his head,
sounds of the dead,
who used to be someone’s sons...
The mace in his hands,
in those forsaken lands,
another zombie head rolls.
Oh, where does he run,
the shame - he has none,
It seems he forgot the tp scrolls...
Apparently it was irrelevant if you put any effort in what you do (excluding Cipher's and Juicebox360's work) , because random generator will be chosen to select so-called winners. I'm disappointed, in a big part because the writing part was ENTIRELY IGNORED, there were few poems used in captions as it is, and the ones that were there apparently lost to something like this:
or
I mean REALLY?
TL:DR - thanks for setting the rules you didn't give a crap about, thanks for ignoring actually funny or well written submissions to chose a low grade primary school "humor", and thanks for making me lose interest in any of your future events. I'm not going to waste my time on competitions where winners are chosen at random, and any quality to the work is ignored. (yes I am SALTY as hell)

1. People are complaining about character limit rules being broken in winning entries.
2. You're right, but did you notice not a single pure caption entry won? It's quite telling, and it's also a little boring, to be honest.
I think setting limits (and enforcing them) in some ways makes things even more fun. It really brings out people's creativity.
I'm not salty; I don't particularly care, to be honest. But I see a lot of people who are upset, and that makes me feel bad for them (and, indirectly, for GGG). I just want to see them run a successful contest that doesn't make people feel like they were treated unfairly.
