Put Ascendency points as a reward for defeating Malachai.

There is no reason to have them in the Labyrinth. It hurts the casual base(who hates the laby overall) while not helping the people dedicated to running the Laby.

Currently, there is no reward for killing Malachai - after you get into the Belly of the Beast, there's nothing. Ascendancy, both logically and thematically, would fit as the final reward, and would also give players a reason to finish Act 4 Merciless, something they're currently lacking.

There are :
- the lore
- the rewards

What does Vaal Oversoul's kill give you ?
What does Merveil's kill give ?

By the way, have you ever killed Merc Malachai ?
There is a reward ( not an amazing one, true ).
Malachai's reward in other difficulties is that you can progress further through the game.

But even though, saving the whole village should be rewarding enough ! It's sad to see that in PoE ( which is ... a game ), now most people only care about .... rewards rewards rewards power up rewards rewards rewards ... :(.

You're an exile, but you're supposed to be the hero of Wraeclast god dammit !!! Feel some damn satisfaction about this lol.

That would be an option, yes.
100 Mala kills or 500 Voll kills and deal.

(but tbh, id rather do the Lab once in each diff., than even 10 Malachai kills.)

With those uber trials included? In HC?
lab is EASY to learn. it is mechanically easy, there are no surprise mofo - here is 2000hp/s degen just under your feet!

Malachai fight is a clusterf.. of gfx vomit and dubious gameplay design choices

i bet there is a much higher risk of stupid death when fighting Mala than Uber Izi (im not talking about traps because dying to traps is just playing stupid - L2P issue)

btw - no TP k? no TP and no chicken-logout? if logged out - then Harvest it is, again, from the start. still sounds better than ~8min zap trough Lab?

And that's what makes the option such a great idea.

For those with lesser skill in the Malachai boss encounters, the lab could still be there to get the points before facing him. For those of us confident in our skills against the Malachai end of difficulties boss fights, we could go straight there and earn our points that way.

Everyone is happy.

No harm done.

Another advantage of this solution is that it should be very easy for GGG to implement.
Over 430 threads discussing labyrinth problems with over 1040 posters in support (thread # 1702621) Thank you all! GGG will implement a different method for ascension in PoE2. Retired!
because you would just dps him down - no skill involved. and thats the precise reason why ggg made the lab. so dps is not the only important thing

this is all talk in vein as the chances of ggg bowing to you two and few other guys repating the same stuff 10s of times is less than slim
Lol Merciless Malachai is a joke.

3 Linked Flame Surge and no link Fire Trap shits on him. Literally no effort to kill malachai.
Harvest sucks! But look at my decked out gear two weeks in!

Labyrinth salt farm miner.

"But my build diversity" , "Game is too hard!" - Meta drone playing the same 1-3 builds for years.

Then the lab would be pointless

Care to elaborate? If what was suggested in the op was implemented then lab would be in the same category as atziri and masters and every optional content GGG has ever released. You do it for the many rewards it offers (enchantments/lab only uniques/treasure chest/jewels), the fun it offers and the competitive aspect of it (leaderboards).

Unless all those other content i mentioned are also pointless. Hint : they are not, they are there to provide entertainment and a deeper immersion and gameplay experience plus the rewards. The same can apply to the labyrinth, especially without the ascendancy points behind it.
