Hi Mark!
The question I have today for you concerns Increases in area affect radius and the Dying Sun Ruby Flask. We finally realised that the Dying Sun Unique Flask gives a mod that appears no where else in the game, increased Area of Effect. Every other item/gem/passive point in the game gives an increased Area of Effect RADIUS. It then occurred to me that Increases in Area of effect and Increases in Area of effect radius might only be applying on the base radius/area of the ability and they are separate, meaning that area isn't converted to radius vice versa. I shall use the blade vortex gem to explain what we are unsure of. Increased Area of Effect radius from passives/item/gems will be assumed to be 50% Blade Vortex Base Radius: 14 units Blade Vortex Base Area:3.14159 x 14^2 = 615.75164 units^2 With total of 50% increased Area of Effect Radius: Blade Vortex Radius: 14 x 1.5 = 21 units Blade Vortex Area: 3.14159 x 21^2 = 1385.44119 units^2 Now When we pop Dying Sun Ruby flask, What happens? Option 1 It takes the area after increases to radius and then adds on a 30%. Blade Vortex Area: 1385.44119 x 1.3 = 1801.07355 units Blade Vortex Radius: (1801.07355 / 3.14159)^0.5 = 23.94368 units^2 Option 2 Dying Sun increases to area is applied first to the base area and then increases to radius is applied: Step 1. Applying the increase in area from flask: 615.75164 x 1.3 = 800.47713 units^2 Step 2. Calculating Radius after flask (800.47716 / 3.14159)^0.5 = 15.96246 Step 3. Applying Increased in Area of Effect Radius 15.96246 x 1.5 = 23.94368 Basically the same as option 1 Option 3 Both increased in area of effect and area of effect radius apply only on base, meaning the flask will give you a fixed increase in AREA regardless of how much increases in radius u have. Increase in Area from flask: 615.75164 x 0.3 = 184.72549 Radius after adding Increase in Area of Effect Radius from all other sources: 21 Area after adding Increase in Area of Effect Radius from all other sources: 1385.44119 Now we add the area the flask gives: 1385.44119 + 184.72549 = 1570.16668 Final Radius: (1570.16668/3.14159)^0.5 = 22.35621 Credits to Celery (Acc name Broccolini) and Dan (Acc name PoEDan79) for spending the time to test and calculate stuff with me! Could we please get some details with regards to how these two mods apply onto skills and confirmation on what the correct way is in calculated how beneficial the flask will be to our abilities! Thank you for taking the time to read this long post and have a great day! |

Hi Mark,
I've got a question about what counts as a 'cast' for critting - particularly incinerate. I'm making a crit incinerate...mostly becuase I can. I don't expect it to be good, but I do expect it to be hilarious. I've noticed that crit for the entire channel seems to be based on the first cast - if I crit once, I crit for the entire channel, if I don't crit, I won't crit ever. Is this the case? This makes sense for flameblast - but for incinerate it feels wrong, and makes my damage very binary. This basically results in me clicking incinerate until I hit a crit, then standing still and hoping monsters run into the stream of death, which is hilarious when it works, but very tedious when they don't comply. Cheers, Loz Last edited by lozarian#4197 on Oct 5, 2016, 3:53:29 AM

How do Essence Drain and shock interact? Does the DoT of Essence Drain do 50% more damage against a shocked target?
|
|
The templar inquisitor passive point, Pious Path, Is not working on Malachai's Loop Harmonic Spirit Shield. You still get shocked even when on consecrated ground. Is this a bug or is this intended?
I did test out to see if I took more damage against reflect, and I did indeed which is what I would think happen. So its not just an issue of it showing you as shocked, but not taking increased damage. Twitch.tv/Nithryok

" You are correct. This is working as intended. " A Shocked enemy will also take 50% increased Damage from Damage over Time, yes. :) Last edited by Vipermagi#0984 on Oct 5, 2016, 6:30:04 AM
