Yes, you did great for 500-600 DPS on the totem, but in most cases the damage is excessive. It is not necessary to go on the record. It is important to create a character that quickly and effectively cleans end-game content. Chieftain ascendancy gives more freedom when choosing a map. Unlike your build, I'm not afraid of elemental reflect calmly playing maps without regen, in that I quietly apply Vaal orb when rolling maps to get high tier or higher quality.

Your videos is cool and fun, but you showed the lightest fragments of POE end-game. Surprise us, write video twinned Core or show how you kill Uber atziri. Then I'll believe in your words: “High survivability without Flasks”

thank you, really enjoying the build. so much that my chieftain is only a few levels behind my berserker used to farm currency/uber lab

i swap between the skirmish quiver and a great old one's ward depending on map rolls, though personally using great old one's ward feels a bit better to play with since i'm pretty reckless and like going fast. losing a totem is pretty big, but the shield adds a lot of raw damage for the two totems and a ton of survivability to compensate. what are your thoughts on running with a shield instead of the quiver? it it worth it without shield nodes? thanks!!
So... having so much fun I wanted to share my view.

IMO it might not be the best build for a first character on a league, but is definitively the best second character build I've seen so far.

I'm a really bad player who loves going balls deep and sucks at positioning, and still this build has taken me way further in maps than any other.

To avoid mana issues while leveling, the use of Atziri's Foible (dirt cheap) helped me a lot until I got enough mana res late game.

I'm using the Stone Golem instead of Chaos for the hp regen needed in lab (not gonna try Uber Lab because I suck at avoiding traps) and goes peachy.

10c bought almost my entire gear and the rest was Jeweler's Touch all the way (except for Merc Izaro dropping a nice roll FBs) and purchasing the From the Void was just icing the cake. Still not using Abyssus, someone overpriced the damn thing. I'll buy it some day.

The only big issue is getting your rescap, so... maybe instead of going for Cruel Preparation getting another jewel slot might help. Also helps to add more survivability or dps if you are lucky.

Build is great. This has become my main char.
Seems like the biggest trade off is a 3rd totem vs a shield.

The totems get the armor benefits of a shield, and it's more likely to get much more damage per totem with the shield with the right nodes and shield... As well you have much higher survivability with a shield.

However with more totems you're getting more taunt targets to take damage for you, and by having another totem you have more attacks per second, so when I use the Onslaught flask it's an extra 33% more damage... And it's so much cooler having a 3rd totem. :x Much style.

Is the trade off worth it?
the shield setup with 2 totems is better in my opinion, much more survivable and damage is more or less the same when compared to 3 totems.

recently made some changes on the passive tree for shield nodes to complement great old one's ward, seeing 102k per totem with hatred and herald of ash. adding in lion's roar, atziri's promise, vaal haste and phase run it went up to 260k per totem (520k~ total dps). add in flame golem, better (or legacy) gear, taste of hate and max quality gems and it should easily hit over 650k combined dps.

you lose some aoe coverage with one less totem, but it's much simpler and more forgiving to play with a shield. tanking physical damage with abyssus and a quiver at high tiers is pretty much impossible, a couple hits = dead and lost xp. great old one's ward lets you tank significantly more damage without dying, add in atziri's step and you have a lot of layers of mitigation.

in the end it's probably up to personal preference. a more glass cannon approach would use the quiver and rely on taunts to survive, and a sturdier build can use a shield with shield nodes to boost damage/survivability even further.
I need a recommendation of a shield, with play.
I'm rolling this build on HC Prophecy and I was wondering if others have any experience playing this build with a more defensive setup in mind?

I'm thinking of using Lioneye's Remorse or an equivalent armor/eva shield with IR and I should be well above 10k armor with the build I've planned and with Abyssus + Belly of the Beast + Atziri's Step. Other defenses would be 48% block with 6 endurance charges and 184% inc life without jewels, do you guys think that would be enough to keep using Abyssus on HC?

i was thinking about using Chernobog's Pillar for added dps and ac or Victario's Charity for the added skill range and to see if totems will gain the charges from kills
thoughts?
