[2.6] The Curse Whisperer - Tri-Curse CI Whispering Ice Elementalist - Viable for Everything
" i understand that we will not use this build with CI anymore, pls correct me if i am wrong. That Marauder build looks good, pls share us more detail (passive tree) when you finish the build, and how you solve the chaos resistance problem without CI. And also , i wonder that what CI builds will do without ES (vaal pact & ghost reaver). |
|
" Correct. The new version is Life-based, it doesn't use CI. I don't see a good way to survive while tanking as a ES based build anymore. Non-instant ES leech sucks. All post-nerf ES based builds I've seen are either not facetanking or not viable in high tiers. Maybe somebody will come up with something eventually, but I haven't seen a good solution yet. Chaos damage is a factor now. You just need to get used to dealing with it. You can get 20% chaos res from the tree, and some more from gear (if you are lucky, it's way too rare). Chaos damage is tuned with little-to-none resistance in mind, it's never as big as elemental damage. There are only a few notable cases where you may want to bring a flask. I'll update the Berserker before the 3.0 release, of course. Still experimenting. |

" Thank you, i am looking forward to see. For Poison, maybe we can use like this. CANNOT BE POISONED.

" Poison hasn't been an issue at all. Monsters don't have any of the poison related keystones, their poison is trivial. |

they've changed wording for the new soul tether belt from "you have ghost reaver" to "life leech is applied to energy shield". this could be a saving grace for the build by boosting the effective health pool while face tanking. the hybrid gear is going to be expensive af though, as it will require int/hp/es/resist rolls.

" Yeah, it's an option now. Remains to be seen how affordable it will be. Adding ES to Life in combat is good. Losing some life, some Int and a ton of resists on a good belt is bad. And losing all ES when not in combat too. That small ES buffer is still good for things like lab traps. Last edited by Kelvynn#6607 on Jul 24, 2017, 10:23:20 PM

Im tempted to try a CI build with the new Soul Tether .... because with CI i am either Full Life or dead. So the old CI gear should still work as long as you dont get oneshotted with the first hit.

|
" do you realise you will be running around with 1 hp and 0 es until you start leeching? |
|
" ...or step on burning or desecrated ground. Or touch a lab trap. Etc. ANY damage when you are not already leeching will kill you. |

Soul tether with the slayer overleech would be soooo godly.
I cant imagine soul tether being worth it though. It has 40 int, and the res can be made up elsewhere. In particular since we are now using rare rings. But its special effect just doesnt provide enough extra tankyness. Soul tether has 40 int, which is no big loss compared to a rare belt, and we can get a shitton of base ES and ES scaling through int "for free". Hitting 3k or more ES while being life-based is not a big deal for this build. Unfortunately, the wording on the new vaal pact is pretty unambiguous: ES leech from soul tether will we subject to the 20%/s leech cap. Minus the 5% of ES we degen per second, this leaves us with 15% of our ES pool being recovered per second. On a build that has 4k ES, this amounts to 600 ES being gained per second. But losing the 120 life from a rare leather belt makes us lose something like 300 life after scaling, so that soul tether effectively only adds something like 300 ehp in a facetank-situation. Even with 6k ES, which would certainly be stretching it a lot, it would only add around 600 ehp while leeching. Moreover, the ES pool with soul tether doesnt alleviate the drawback of life vaal pact builds in the lab or elsewhere. So the only really significant upside it has is when the ES pool is fully charged up and we take a big hit. But this wont happen often. Note that the incoming damage in red maps is already a lot higher than what we can leech back in ES. Therefore, the ES pool would most of the the time only be full after having finished a pack, but neither while clearing packs nor while facetanking a boss nor when engaging a boss. (We would lose around 20-40% of our ES to the degen while walking into the boss arena...) Not worth it, unfortunately. :( Last edited by Black_Gun#7476 on Jul 25, 2017, 5:27:05 AM
