why do you guys suppress ignite with a 49% more modifier when ignite is a 80% more?.
i played fire through out my poe life and i just can't suppress the ignite; it makes no sense.
duration is also a more multiplier.

anyway, i 'll end up with

6 jewels, 750 int after staff and helm(from the tree), 5.8% regen, 12k armor with granite up + another 26% flat phys reduction from basalt, i leap slam fortify with 90% increased attack speed, 3 frenzy(can get 1 more).
i have 3.5k without buffs and 6.2k with buffs(both with conc, echo/faster casting/controlled destruction/cold to fire/inc. duration on staff) at 900 int on char screen(7k es).

the problem i have for now is -max + reflect mobs while my icestorm hits less than 3 targets; i just melt and have to log out.
i think i can fix it with purity(i don't use arctic armor)+ ruby flask + better fortify skills but i'm pretty lazy.

Edit: tree with VP

by 90 it can get 8 jewels(+1more later); at that point one starts thinking about grand spectrum. :)

ignite is just not suited for skills that apply many small hits like icestorm or firestorm. when I facetank a boss and stack icestorms on him, he is hit by something like 20 to 30 ice shards per second. even if double dipping was increasing burn damage by a factor of 10, it wouldnt make that much of a difference.

using burn necessarily means skipping strong support gems (ele focus) and losing int/conventional damage from the tree. fully buffed you reach an average damage of 6.2k. and thats with frenzy charges that you wont be able to sustain in prolonged boss fights. fully buffed, I have around 13k avg hit damage.

so assuming 20 iceshards per second, my damage to a boss is at the very least 20*13k = 260k, not accounting for penetration and some other stuff.

with full frenzy charges and a burn that has double dipping by a factor of 10, you arrive at (20+10)*6.2k = 186k. and thats only if you can sustain your frenzy charges.

also, lets not forget that inc duration is NOT a multiplicative damage modifier for burn damage; not with a spell that hits as frequently and thus re-applies burn as frequently as icestorm. ofc, sacrificing gems and passives (and thus int) for burn also means that you have less ES, less mana and less icestorm duration.

simply put: burn is awesome with strong one-time-hit skills like flameblast or (fire-converted) vortex. it also is inherently stronger on crit builds. so if there's any build that is disadvantageous to burn, its WI.
your math is biased. you assumed that because i scale burn damage(?) my dmg is only 6.2k buffed?. i don't scale burn at all(there's no point), but fire dmg from jewels double dips(just saying).
- i know ignites don't stack;
- duration is not for burn(i know it doesn't work for ignite), it's for icestorm; you can get 2 sec more on icestorm and that's 20 more shards at full dmg per each cast(40 more per echo).

i do 6.2k buffed because i have only 900 int.; just hit 85 doing ~t13 maps and i don't even have the amulet.
you're comparing your 13k with my 6k and say ignite is bad. that's not how it works, it should be like(looking at my tooltip in town while removing gems):
2.2k dps per shard without focus(can ignite)
3.3k dps with ele. focus(can not ignite)
for 20 shards, with your assumed factor of 10 it's:
2.2k * (20+10) = 6.6k and 3.3k * 20 = 6.6k
thing is , i have no idea what your double dipping by a factor of 10 means. ignite is a shard dmg*0.2 added per second with no scaling.

my mistake though was thinking that each shard that hits would do its full (shard dmg + (shard dmg*0.8))(again, fully knowing that ignite doesn't stack). so something went wrong there(brain fart) and i will give you that for single target ele. focus would be better but i think letting it ignite would not be that far off because you get 40% more from ascendancy, 40% more from overload, 59% more from conc. effect and about 100% increase fire from jewels that do double dip the ignite.

i would totally recommend letting it ignite when farming.

I know this is a tricurse build (it's in the name, lol), but I'm wondering if swapping out Deodre's Damning in favor of using Shavronne's Revelation would be a good move, as we're so int hungry. That'd be an easy way to quickly add 70+ int as well as ES, and I wouldn't think interfering with our mana regen would be a problem due to our leech. Perhaps we could drop temporal chains, as our Icestorm tends to slow enemies and we like to be in their face anyway?

Perandus Signet adds a lot more Int than that at high levels, and without any drawbacks. If you manage to reach something like 1800 Int (with godly gear or just really high level) it becomes better to use AoF+CtF+Perandus (assuming you can max resists without Pyre). Or if you obtain a +1 curse Astramentis you can switch Doedre's Damning for Perandus Signet.

Losing one of the curses (TC) is OK in most maps up to T15. The endgame will be painful without it. But in either case, Perandus Signet is better than Shavronne's Revelation.
Does anyone know why we are using life leech on this build?

Skill passive in tree adds ES leech
I got this from a drop. Is it worth it to reallocate points from somewhere else into the melding node so I can use this? Seems like a huge bump in ES. If so, what passives should i get rid of to make room for it?

absolutely not worth it!

500int add 100% increased ES. since this build typically reaches something around 1.5k int in the end game even with average gear, we are already sitting at something like 350% increased ES. adding some 50% to it, while losing some 100int for it means a net gain of around 30% increased ES, but loses a SHITTON of damage.

What should be the priority for upgrade? Sitting around 7.2k ES, still kinda squishy for a CI character.
How do you handle freeze for this build ? I have been following the guide and doing well until Merc Izaro. He just froze me and I died a few times because I can't leech him when I am frozen. I was lv 70 with 7k ES (on scion, I have a witch too). I was unable to keep fortify up nor face tank him cause of the freeze. I used an anti feeeze flask after that and it was fine. However, the 2nd time I did it with a friend to help him. Izaro had increased hp and I ran out of flask charges as he kept freezing and chilling me ending up in my death again. Only managed to clear it on the 1st try when I swopped my boots out for wanderlust for the freeze immunity, dropping my ES down to 6k. Is auxium required? or should I fill my flask bar with more anti freeze flasks? I already bought a decent int belt for 1.5 exalted so.... =(.
any good prize for this build in the race season going now a days?
