(2.2) "The Stoneside" - Mjolner Aegis Immortality (Gladiator) - NEW Vids! - Way to L100!

That will be fine I think :)

Thought about the ES topic again and it may actually be worth a try to make this work with at least 500-600 ES. That's what was established by melee aegis block builds as a rough minimum some time back, but I haven't checked as everyone seems to have a different opinion. But if your ES has that value it should be alright (and, going from there, you would not need to stretch as far for armor rating).

It's just something that popped into my mind, in the end you have to fool around a bit of course :D

On the Discharge topic I can just say that GGG said Discharge will only play it's highest/worst possible effect when all 3 types of charges are used (and here you have no Frenzy charges). So, it's gotten a bit better for older machines but it's still tough.

Also, I personally really like the Kingsguard chest. If you take a hit, your life will be replenished in no time. If you play without Voll's Devotion and logically another chest, you need leech from somewhere. Both to sustain attacks and recover from the big hits you take every once in a while. It may be that the leech from a Doryani Belt just covers this up, but maybe you need a Warlord's Mark linked with CWDT or a Vessel of Vinktar (or technically, an amulet with corrupted lightning leech).

New Passive Tree

I would use that passive tree. It gives you the same amount of life, 8 more chaos resist, 16% more armor, and a free 3 points to put anywhere you need. You can grab another endurance charge, more ES, more health, the anti-crit armor node, or another jewel slot with 8% more ele damage. There are a lot of good options.

Thanks for the effort!

Sadly your tree has a tad less stats due to the mostly better pathing, so I cannot switch just like that. Might work when I get a Jewel with stats.
Also noted that it has +80 instead of +100 max life, so I am not sure if you actually gain some life. But in general it offers more freedom due to the saved passives.

I think it might be best getting the merciless +1 Power charge and grab a third Endu charge from your proposed tree...should give some nice DPS! Will see if I can make that work when I find the time!

I included it with your name in the reworked main post :)

Glad I could help
I'm doing something similar, figured I'd share it. I went dual arc instead of discharge mostly because I just don't like rainbownuking anymore and because I wanted something a bit more passive for defence:

Stats:
75/75 block
7600 life
1600 ES
22.7k armour
148-2791 damage on arc with lightning pen.
5.21 APS on MS base, going to 6.33 with buffs/silver flask

The single target is pretty meh against smaller mobs but it'll still one shot whites/blues and most yellows if they're near other mobs. Doesn't melt your comp nearly as much as discharge and you can actually see what your guy is doing. I use a legacy VoV if I feel like I'm in trouble.

Nice! Love to see other ideas here :)

That is a very HC-like approach you took with some interesting items (That Talisman! And you didn't link the Chest, but I looked it up and it's a Kaom's heart it seems).

Please let me know how you feel about the leech and the general situation without a Kingsguard. Does the 0.2% leech from the Doryani's suffice along with Vessel of Vinktar?

Btw, I added a lot of new endgame Gameplay, check it out!
Also slightly reworked my thoughts on flask setup.

If you can get a legacy VoV the leech on it, even with dual arc, can actually be better than volls/kingsguard. Off my guy it works out to 882 life leeched per hit that triggers (compared to the ~300 life you get from kingsguard). But that can drop to 546 if the target has capped resists and is alone.

In the end it doesn't really matter though. A seething/bubbling flask is all you really need. With capped block and a decent amount of armour/ES, there shouldn't be much that gets to your life pool anyway, and as a general rule; if your sustain is high enough that nothing can kill you without one-shotting you, work on ehp instead of sustain.

The leech in doryani's is a nice in packs, but I mostly use it because of the other stats. Eventually I'll replace it with a headhunters I think, but that's a later problem.
How is dps you think? No spelldamage or crit spell?

Well, as you can see in the many linked videos, this is not needed in the passive tree. I get damage via Jewels with Spelldmg, Lightning DMG and attack speed mostly.

I added a third passive tree for the build, being a Discharge variant with 6 Endurance and 6 Power charges.

I am considering this tree myself, but due to lacking time it will have to wait a bit.

I am using Lvl 21 gems I corrupted myself, you can use L20 gems as well but L 21 gives a nice DPS boost.
The vid of the dual Ambrius fight was made with a nonlegacy Mjolner (30%) amd Temp chains mod if you want to check it out, yet I had no probs in the fight (besides forgetting to start FRAPS right at the beginning...^^). You can see the Mjolner at the end when I quickly show the used gear. So besides from DPS being no real issue, the tankiness is the biggest plus in this build. You can basically tank any boss in the game (I didn't try Malachai or Uber yet though...and with resists being 75% it would be a bit too ballzy to tank Uber Flameblasts rather than dodge them).

Further DPS can be gained by using the Atziri Flask. I actually had it equipped in the beginning and then changed it. The Silver Flask is enough IMHO, granting 20% additional attack speed.

To go spellcrit would not be worth it as long as you go for block on the tree. So for spellcrit, a Templar with Inquisitor ascendancy would probably do better. But I think when you are L93+ playing top tier maps, every death hurts. And thus I went for tankiness - which means Duelist and Gladiator.

Lastly, jewels:

Spoiler

No perfection here either as you see. Just get some attack speed (it will help you getting back HP as well via Kingsguard) and Lightning dmg/spelldmg/spelldmg while holding a shield.

You can get a free extra 10 str or 10 dex by putting an Intuitive Leap in the socket west of the Templar start. Then respec out of the power and endurance duration nodes. Use those two points to pick up the jewel socket south of Duelist.

If you've already taken the Duelist socket, then you can still use this trick to take the socket near Whispers of Doom, it'll cost you 1 extra skill point and you'll gain 8% elemental damage. This isn't as clear of a win - it might be better to lose the 8% dmg and pick up some more life or something else instead.
