You do realize that there's a world outside of the US, correct? And that many care less about US politics, let alone follow them and are lost on your reference. And I say that as a fellow American.

As a European - I understand what he's talking about and I'm pretty sure most people do. I also think it was a rather witty remark given how many of those "Make PoE great again" guys react - by either suggesting to kick out the ppl who are critical of these newly introduced basic game features you have to pay for - or just insulting them as "idiots", "entitled", "whiny freeloaders"...

If you have more than one tab full of currency it is.

This is bullshit? This should be a normal feature, players should not pay real money for this. So every new feature is going to cost now is that your new stupid model? Wow...
The direction seems to be confirmed that organization and tab features are going to be pay-only now and in the future, from premium tabs required to make them "public" and hence poe.trade scrape-worthy, to currency tabs that require a purchase.

I see both sides of the argument: GGG has to make money somehow, or we lose this awesome game. At the same time, new features are arriving behind pay gates, breaking from GGG's original statements on PoE...

Path of Exile will be free to play, based on micro transactions. Do you feel this is a sustainable model long-term? Do you have a “plan-b” to fall back on if it doesn’t work out financially?

Yes, ethical microtransactions are a proven model in several other games. Many companies are making decent money by just selling aesthetic items to their customers. Part of the appeal of this method is that it doesn’t turn off customers who would get angry about “selling power” in the game. We can make sure the game is a level playing field for competitive tournaments, because customers can only purchase items of cosmetic utility.

Also, many people think to themselves that they’d never spend money on microtransactions, therefore the game is doomed to fail. Only a portion of the player base needs to spend money for the game to be viable, and it’s shown in many other games that this rate may be as high as 10% of players. It’s completely okay for people to play our game for free and not make any donations or purchase cosmetic items.

My biggest question to GGG, is if you want to go this direction (I'm ok with it myself), at least come out and admit that change in direction instead of pretending to have an "ethical microtransaction" store.

I defended GGG with the "public" feature requiring premium tabs, but I can't really defend GGG after this currency tab business.

That said, this is still FAR from "pay-to-win", but the direction is going towards new features only for a price. What's next, "Act V Available Now, Buy it Today"?

That's hyperbole I hope, the two are vastly different.

The second GGG starts to charge for actual gameplay content or power boosts, then the revolution can begin. I was with you until you walked off the deep end.

Yes, it was merely a joke. ;-)

The earlier sentiments are true. As I mentioned before, as just another PoE supporter and gamer, I'm happy about the new feature, but sad to see it pay-gated as a second controversial one in a row. Of course I'll buy it, who wouldn't want to stack currency in a stack of 5000 and free up our existing tabs for other things?

But do I feel it's "ethical"? That's debatable, and I'm seeing a trend now with GGG. I'm not one of the "angry" masses here, but I'm skeptical about this new direction. I'd rather see PoE go into a subscription mode than to see functionality like this as a micro-transaction.

I'm ok with them charging for public stash boxes, bigger inventories, auto collect and stash organize, map stashes, cards stashes, auto trading and other stuff that will come in the future,as long as they put the money into upgrading game's engine or whatever it is that causes those terrible frame drops lags freezes kicks and other eye hurting stuff.
If they would make poe as fluid as d3 in the near future i have no problem buying each of these qol upgrades.
I don't see that however. All i see is some expansions, new leagues some of which were terrible ideas and new content that makes the game worse performance wise.
