BBBBGG, so I assume:

B - Raise Spectre (Flame Sentinel)
B - Spell Echo
B - Minion Damage
B - Elemental Focus
G - (Greater/Lesser) Multiple Projectiles (I prefer Lesser)
G - To Be Determined

What you want is a MORE multiplier, as stacking it gives exponential returns. You already get tons of Increased Damage from your passives, ascendancy, jewels, gear, and gem quality. MORE is what's hard to come by.

Faster Projectiles is 29% Increased Damage. Waste of a slot.

Culling Strike is 38% Increased Damage. Insta-kills at 10% is nice, but aside from difficult bosses it shouldn't matter much. Quality is the same as Faster Projectiles, giving increased attack/cast speed, so that's decent. Flame Sentinels scale very well with cast speed. If you want culling for bosses, you can instead use Power Siphon (need wand), Culling support on Arc or Flame Totem, or get an item that gives Culling for free.

Pierce gives 29% More Damage, but you have a chance of losing out on splash damage if other targets aren't behind the pierced enemy. GGG removed shotgunning though, so how much that matters when you've got 3, 5, or 7 projectiles per shot is debatable. Penetrating a pack of mobs for deeper splash might actually improve clear time. In enclosed maps like Dungeon, Catacombs, and Crypt, pierced Fireballs can still detonate against walls behind the target and deal more damage.

Slower Projectiles give 29% More Damage. The downside is almost non-existent, as the Fireballs are fast enough with or without this gem. Quality is the same as Pierce, giving increased damage.

Chain could be fun, but 50% Less Damage hurts.

Thanks for the input... seems like you are endorsing slower projectiles or pierce?
Well hello Mister Fancypants. Well, I've got news for you pal, you ain't leadin' but two things right now: Jack and shit... and Jack left town.

Question to the more seasoned summoners out there: Do changes to skills also affect monsters/spectres that use that skill?

TL/DR: Will flame sentinels be SUPER op?

Nope.
In regards to Flame Sentinels:
Why Elemental Focus over Controlled Destruction? I realize Ele Focus gives a few % more, but I'm curious as to the difference between the ele damage from focus and the spell damage from controlled. Is the -100% crit chance from CD at all impactful to sentinels?

Just for curiosity :)
The -100% crit doesnt mean they wont crit ever. For example using victario charity shield for power charges = 6% base crit + 600% crit from power charges - 100% from controlled destruction = 36% chance to crit.

My personal setup for flame sentinels is spectre-gmp-minion dmg-fire pen-spell echo-pierce.

Pierce is a huge clear speed boost. Flame sentinels will either pierce or fork on every fireball. The explosion on fireball is usless with small aoe and without rolling flames anyway.

I've been thinking about Taunt Bears. Since Taunt got buffed, having 3 fat beasties to pull aggro constantly seems borderline OP. That said, I'm not sure how much damage they'd deal, so they might have to be only a tanking measure.

Going to see if anything will be really op with the unending hunger gem.

As far as I know its more mob life, dmg, and cast/atk speed boost?

Working on my summoner this league next build =D. Can't wait to try the jewel.

Soul Eater is a stacking buff that grants damage reduction, increased damage, increased cast speed and increased character size.

The incinerators from the second area in act 1 are not so bad as spectres. They attack constantly with incinerate. Too bad they are a bit low level.

Each stack of soul eater grants:
5% attack/cast speed
5% phys reduction
5% resists
??% character size.

My game crashes too often to play soul eater summoner, but if I were going to do it, I'd DEFINITELY run the flicker strikers from A3 sewers! Or maybe the flicker spiders, since they would never Discharge? But yeah, tons of attack speed + flicker strike sounds awesome!
