Why I struggle to enjoy this game, First time Feedback

thanks for the feedback. even bad feedback is better than none :)

my 2 cents:
most games i played used to bore me to death after some time (highest being a year). poe quite changed that because not getting what i want is driving me to play.

optimization of the game is a ongoing process which needs highly specialized (and so expensive) dev power, players cutting back on support before it's fixed is like cutting the tree one just climbed because ggg relies on current support to improve dev power in the future. there is no publisher or risk capital corp who shoves them the money into their backs.

if you read the news they just did try to employ new devs because many players (among them probably alot with more serious issues than yours) did support in advance to get a better game in the future.

---

most of your other points are valid, advertising items for sale is a pain, the party board is a mess, the map overlay is suboptimal, particles could be slightly reduced for better overview and the game got substantially more complex with all the expansion packs.

i would bet that 90% of all players can't tell if an item has a open prefix or suffix just by looking at it. especially if it has hybrid mods, another 5% are wrong.
age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!
Yeah, have to agree on almost everything you said OP.

I still have hope, because GGG isn't the average shitty developer and because... there is simply no other game that is able to compete with PoE at the moment IMO... and PoE still has a good community except a few vocal dudes you have already met and some scammers.

Hope they really focus on party play next... IMO the game is becoming a forced-online soloplayer game.

Peace,

I have played this game for a long time and honestly agree with damn near every single point you made.
ProbablyGettingNerfed - L100 Occultist
Vinktarded - L100 Pathfinder
GoogleDiversityHire - L100 Necromancer

3.13 was the pinnacle of PoE. IVYS+1 Gang 4 Life.
OP Ejester.... i will make a golden statue to you!!!!! +10.000!!!!!

I am burned with this game, especially from when days ago i nearly got killed with over 13k es and 2.5k es regen/sec by map Oak and 3 fucked blue devourers spammed all togheter and blocking my way from all directions.

AN ARPG GAME IN WICH YOU CANNOT HAVE A STRONG DEFENSE, IS A GAME OF STINKING SHIT

So, I've tried to play this game off and on for a few years now. Most ARPGs I have thousands of hours in (some at 4k+ hrs)

- not being able use an entire stack of weapon/armor stones at once, shouldn't need to have to click 40 times to 20% a piece of gear. Allow me to drop an entire stack of 20 stones on the item and just be done with it.

4k+ hours in other ARPGs and you can't even figure out that you can keep shift pressed and click only the left button?

Let me guess: to buy ammy and rings from Gheed in D2 you moved all of them manually to your inventory? -.-

ID&Portal scrolls are currency anyway. You can sell them to dedicated MFers usually 120:1 chaos. It's a nice source of extra incomes, and i like it this way

Also, name me ANY ARPG game where solo play isn't punished

Allow me to reply? Titan quest. The very good rares are difficult to drop even there, but the game is not idioticly punishing you with mobs that have more life points than Getter Emperor, more attack power than Gurren Lagann and more range than Demonbane, and even base items allow you to finish the game LIKE A CHAMP, with no stress, no rage, no frustration
First of all.
Playing a game created by "GRINDING Gear Games" and complaining about grind is hilarious.

Ya I don't expect these guys to get off their ass and do anything about it, but there is zero incentive for me to spend a single cent on this game until they make some changes. Been like 3 years already, not like it's difficult to resist spending money on a game that the dev refuse to improve.

Other people already mentioned that (bolded part), but still.
Yeah. Game wasn't improved at all in 3 years. Sure. -_-

As for other games, Marvel Heroes (on steam or stand alone client) isn't too shabby, probably my top suggestion. Some other games I'll mention:

Cash shop. Grind.
Well, you might receive everything in-game, but how long will it take you to? Oh right - by grinding with RNG. Where did i hear that...

By the way, most of the mentioned games are not even an ARPG but MOBA\MMO, and almost every game you've mentioned is "bad F2P", so let's get it quick.

- Grim Dawn - (another ARPG game. This is already 100% content complete and launches out of early access on steam end of this month I believe)

Casual Titan Quest, imo. ARPG though.

ejester wrote:
- Warframe (I suggest this hesitantly, while the game is ok, there is a lot of work to do in it)

Seriously? Warframe? Tons of mindless and repetitive grind. Daily quests. Grind. And cash shop.

ejester wrote:
- Tree of Savior (spiritual successor to ragnarok) launches soon, looks alright. Depends on how brutal the cash shop is

Not an ARPG. Niche game like PoE. 2 Different games actually.

ejester wrote:
- Black Desert Online (same as above, launches soon / depends on cash shop not sucking)

Spoiler

BDO. P2W. Panties of luck +2. Nuff said.

ejester wrote:
- Paragon - new game coming soon from Epic (makers of UT99 / 2k4, etc). Like Smite, but better and without the crappy company running it (ie: hi-rez).

Coming soon. MOBA. Very similar to PoE to compare those, yup.

ejester wrote:
- Lost Ark (MMO) looks pretty nice, though I admit I haven't read much about it. On my radar though

Coming soon, but might have "heavy grind" as many korean games already have.
"
ejester wrote:
- The Secret World - can't say enough good things about this game really. How F2P games should be run imo.

Buy2Play in the first place. Niche game. Same as PoE

You still didn't answer the question

P.S. Titan Quest is, basically, an offline ARPG. And can be easily modified in any way you like (i even saw Diablo2-esque remix of Titan Quest). Doesn't mean it's not good for solo play though.
Remember, suffering is convenient.
That is why many people prefer it.
Happiness requires effort.
Haruka, the good thing of offline like titan quest is that even people with poor connection can avoid unnecessary deaths. Moreover, it's not under the "moons" of servers

The sad things of life: a bunch of capable guys sees the company FAIL. A bunch of masochists that like to torture people with one shots, constant "pursue the carrot" grinding and unrewarding drops.... are making money
Overall I think there were many points that other players share. Things that I think GGG could do with 'less' effort and would make a difference:

- trade improvements even in the kind of trade boards or tabs in the public board. Anything to stop the endless list of wtb/wts.
- Map overlay not being so variable over maps. It also bothers me tbh.
- Currency drops should be slightly buffed for the simple reason that temp leagues are now based around being 3 months and not 4. Still, I'm used to it, and considering all the increase of content that has contributed to a passive increase of the speed we accumulate wealth (even without trading).

I would also like them to reduce wisdom/portal scrolls but they may never do that. Picking them up affects immersion sooner or later, and also contributes to that feeling that we're just picking up **** 99% of the time. Oh well, would love this tho. Wisdom scrolls totally unnecessary (stuff can be id'd in town and portal scrolls are simply unnecessary, in the inventory there could be a button that generates a portal or any other solution - I mean, who doesn't have loads of both if they want to? trading hundreds for 1c...not a convincing argument).

Prob other stuff but I'm on the back end of a red-eye flight lol

I myself get an average of 1 chaos/vaal orb every 4-6 maps or so and have never seen anything better than that drop. The only way to make some currency is to get an expensive unique with good rolls or an amazing rare, of which I have seen zero. The currency that you can farm yourself reliably is alright but if you are to use it yourself, it is highly unlikely that you will get 6 sockets, or 6 link something, or alch a good rare, or chance an unique, so all that currency is quickly spent and needs to be farmed again for a few days.

Combined with random oneshots that make you lose exp, the experience isn't very enjoyable. I am fine with grind, it just doesn't feels like I'm getting anything out of it.

1. I see ppl saying "the game is made by griding gg" it's supose to be about grinding.

Hell yeah! But can't you make all the grinding feels a lil less boring and frustrating?
It's ok that you are a zombie and like to just grind 18/7, but come on...

2. Pll talking about the negative post content, for real? If the guy has negative things to say about the game, let him say so. Maybe we could get some improvements thx to his "negative" opinions.

3. Nothing said here is new to the player or to the forum, let's dream about a day that things will be done. I'm still hoping the day that I'll join a pt and have fun instead of not joining coz I already know how painfull this is. :)

4. Don't let this post die, it has most of the problems that we have to deal ingame atm.
