Skill Reveal - Ancestral Protector

This is one of the funniest things GGG has ever made! LMFAO
looks pretty kool an can damage more then one at a time I will def give this one a try as it also looks faster killing then flame totem :)
I can't believe a skill that looks like this passed GGG's quality threshold. The animations look absolutely terrible, which is really disappointing considering that, mechanically speaking, the skill looks quite interesting.

I'm excited to test out this skill with builds, however overall I'm disappointed from the visuals. It's like a jittery whack-a-mole machine with a feather doing ground slam.

I guess I'm confused more than anything. Why would GGG think something that looks like this would be OK to show?
Yeah so ive been toying with a trap totem idea for a while... this might just do it haha.

Hierophant Protector Trapper:

Ancestral Protector - Trap - Cluster Trap - Something - Something - Maybe Something (Iron Will?)

Cover the screen with 5 of them them in one go, frost bomb / cold snap cluster traps over top, iron will on everything, stack STR, carry a massive pdps 2hander just for show :)

Yea totally agree with you here builds like cyclone,Reave,Ice crash,Lightning Strike,Viper Strike, i mean they are just so god awful it isn't funny am i right yea just truly anyone that plays these builds are are such a huge disadvantage Clearly Etup would say the same thing i bet.

If you didn't get me trolling i am sorry but seriously melee is just fine if you are having trouble with a build it might just be that it isn't your play style it is fine if you like range much more oh and i forgot to mention Cleave up there my friend leveled cleave to 90 in HCT league with no problems at all.

Now on to the next thing imagine triple totem build with viper strike melee splash for multi targeting then remove multi strike for those fights you won't need it and replace it with a stronger support gem. now you have 3 targets hitting hard fast and as the stacks rise the more damage. Or how about perma stun Ground Slam, Even having new skill depending how it acts if each totem is its own dependent type and not as a whole, Earth quake skill could be incredible as well.

A build i had an idea about when i saw this was if the above with Earth Quake skill would work in that way is having dual totem build with it doing insane clear speeds, and if it doesn't than having Reave as a back up plan or hell even cleave would be great.


First off, I don't give 1 shit about streamers.

Secondly, I never said melee sucked or that I'm struggling as melee. Also killing monsters is the least of my concerns. If someone is having a hard time PvM'ing in this game...haha.

Lastly, if you think you can even debate ranged+crit < melee in every area of this game....again haha. Doesn't matter by how much, by design it'll always be the case. Implementing totems for melee is not going to change that. But then again PvM is PvM and that's your focus, it's already easy anyways. Now back to letting streamers dictate most of your gaming my man.

decoy totem that does damage? the damage is there, the decoy isnt. wonder how much HP this thing has - if a lot then melee might finally kill Avatar of Thunder!


because lets get real here - if anything it DECREASES the clear speed so the ranged vs melee issue remains.
