Thanks for feedback and suggestions, yes with the 2.1 version, can consider to play with controlled destruction support gem.

I have started a variation of this build that uses Flame Surge + Spell Totem with self cast Fire Trap and +2 totems from Ascendancy tree, but I'm not high enough yet to use it.

I think the new Elemental Focus support gem is a great combination with Flame Surge, almost 50% more damage at level 20 without disadvantages. It's probably worth it to switch out Iron Will for it, if you can handle the increased mana consumption.

Also, Cluster Traps might be a better choice than Multiple Traps now.
