Gloves
This character was built around Facebreaker Gloves so this piece of gear is mandatory
You can either use a legacy pair of Facebreaker or a non-legacy version


The DPS Difference between 797% More Unarmed Physical Damage non-legacy Facebreaker vs 988% More Unarmed Physical Damage legacy Facebreaker is around 21k (so you should still get around 150k Infernal Blow DPS with non-legacy gloves)

Helmet
This is another important piece of gear for this build, around 40% of the total DPS comes from this item, also some of the stats (dexterity and intelligence) you need for the jewels come from this helmet; if you want a more tanky character and dont care about losing almost half the DPS you can replace this helmet with a nice Armour helmet with massive life and resistances


Belt
Here you have a few options you can use a Meginord's Girdle (legacy or non-legacy), a nice rare belt (Rustic sash with armourm 90+ life and some resistances), a Physical Damage Doryanni's Invitation or a Fire Damage Doryanni's Invitation (worst option)



The best option in my opnion is the Meginord's Girdle

Chest Plate
For this build you can either use a 5L or a 6L (links explained in gems section)
What you really want here is an armour based chest plate, why? there are two reasons, your gems are mainly red and your defense comes from armour and damage reduction

I tried two different chest plates for this build, and here are the numbers
Belly of the Beast with 557 armour and 39% increased maximun life

• 13996 Total Armour
• 62% estimated physical damage reduction
• 6949 life

Rare plate with 1719 Armour and 89 maximun life

• 18714 Total Armour
• 69% estimated physical damage reduction
• 6541 life

Conclusion
Belly of the Beast boost your life but you will likely take more damage so it will go down faster, while you will be able to take more damage with less life but higher armour.

Boots
Here you want some armour based boots with high life, movememnt speed and dual/tri resistances


Shield
Here you want a high Armour/ high chance to block shield with life
The Lioneye's Remorse is a good choice but you can equip a nice rare shield also


Rings
On rings you want to get Physical Damage, Life and enough resistances to max your resistances in merciless, you can also get some stats like intelligence or dexterity or some mana regeneration

The best ring base for this build are Iron Rings

Amulet
On amulet you want to get Physical Damage, Life and enough resistances to max your resistances in merciless, you can also get some stats like intelligence or dexterity or some mana regeneration

Main Attack on Chest Plate 5L or 6L
If you are using a 5 links

Counter Attacks 4L
Place these on boots, you need 3 red and 1 green sockets, so getting this colours on armour based boots should be really easily, also you can get a corrupted pair of boots with +1 to level of socketed gems and boost your counter-attack skills

This skills will trigger automatically everytime you block an attack, dealing samage to attackers

Auras and Buffs 4L
Place these on gloves which are evacion/energy shield based, so you will be looking only for one off-colour


Auras and Buffs 4L
Place these on helmet, you will be looking here for 2 off-colours on an armour only item


Auras and Buffs 3L
Place these on shield you are looking for just one off-colour socket
