Announcing the Five-week Darkshrine Events
I agree with an opinion that 1M is too short for the event. Nobody is playing very deeply for 1month and there is no point of playing after all achievements. I'm just sitting here waiting for this event to end. I saw people leaving and not playing after 2weeks and I'm pretty sure it will be worse for the next event. I wish events could be more rewarding or at least much longer so we can keep playing and keep investing. It is really hard to try anything new beyond half-point of the event. Isn't January a good start for new league?

" As noted, this is an experiment. One month seems a goodly amount of time for the developers to see how the mechanics work out in the wild and decide whether or not it's a keeper... I fail to see how this 'kills' the game. And would be interested in what fraction of the players base consider the 'economy' would be a significant concern... I understand that there are too many people who think that it's okay to spam in the trade channels, which leads others to try and make trades in the global ones (which is bad form) and yet others to resort to third-party services (which shouldn't be needed). And how many make do with OSP (On-Site Procurement) for their gear and crafting material needs. " Are you referring to things like 'eliminate all non-boss unique tangos'? Those are nice, but in their absence nothing stops you from setting such objectives for yourself as personal goals. On another note: I'm not entirely sure what's going on with Kaom's left arm in the page backdrop, but it'd be nice if the model for Kaom's Heart were updated to include it... in another setting it'd be a very impressive piece of cyberware. " No point in playing game after getting achievements? That's a total opinion statement, and btw the game is much bigger than that. I've been playing this game almost two years and never once tried to get an achievement or challenge done; nothing against them at all, I just don't care about that aspect. All the people crying about 1mo, on the flip side you could say that a lot of people bitch after 2 months in a 4mo-league that people are leaving and getting bored and the league is too long. So either option there are haters. Play standard maybe? | |
" I agree that it was my personal opinion. But your statement is also your personal opinion and maybe you like to do repetitive things over and over again. If you have checked how empty trade 1 or global 820 is in 1MSC, you can't say that. You can barely sell anything and nobody buys anything. Goals or achievements tighten lose end of events like this and those are the reasons most of the people are doing events. If it was like normal league for 1month, I would rather play standard for that period. I'm not being offensive to events and leagues that GGG makes but 1month content is too short for two consecutive events without a league. Event is an event, league is a league, and those should be independently driven. I will still play the event, but I don't like the fact that people are not playing as much as it was before now :( Last edited by ak47master on Oct 25, 2015, 11:33:54 PM

Nice Idea, but all this league timing went kinda off at GGG i feel.
First of all, last league should have been longer and not that abruptly shut down,( so you wouldn't even have this "out of the blue" problem) you lost quite some casual afterwork players for that. Generally, people with more money to spent have less time and vice versa, you should keep that in mind while trying to please "everyone". But maybe you just skipped those potential customers now anyway :/ . You have stated once that you do not want to have more than 4 different realms ( perma/league: sc/hc) running to not split up further the player base and I understand that this has some importance. But I guess players who play the permanent leagues, they don't care if there is 1 or 2 leagues running beside theirs, they already know that its hard to buy stuff cause others play leagues and are mostly happy to just play with all the wealth they have accumulated. And for the leagues, players are just too different, so you will never please the mass, no matter how long you time it. There are quite some calling for longer leagues, 4-6mth to have their time to achieve their goals. And a lot achieve all of em within a month, a few within 2 weeks. Even with only one league running, you will split up the player base, there will be the bored ones in the oh so long 3mth, who stop playing after the 1. mth and the other ones who don't even try a 1mth or only till the first rip (in hc) or just quit the game since even 3mth is too short for them. So why you don't just try and experiment with a longer league , 4mth at least and throw in some wacky 1-2 weaks races in between for the hardcore players ? Maybe a 1 mth every now and then but not always within every 4mth or between those. I think when they get their spiky 1-2 week race in between, even hardcore players are happy to go back to the current league and have some fun with all their gear for a second /third.. 95+ char after 1-2 weaks of grinding from scratch. And less time intensive players would still like to see them streaming while racing for the tops and meanwhile be a part of it until they leave it or just keep on progressing in their league. The casual gamers who would be "left alone" in their league would not miss or even recognize the loss of the hardcore players during a short in between league. They play within their people and a lot self found. Basic items will still be available cause they can find them for each other, and hack, if they want to buy anything for exalts I am pretty sure people would change leagues for a minute. If you can keep more players playing at the same time due to providing something for everyone, maybe leagues become even more vivid then currently with one league only. Another note: I rely enjoyed that POE, so far, has not gone the route of keeping players busy every day every second, but giving some natural breaks every now and then without the feel of missing something. I would really like to see this , fun sounding 1mth thing to start by the weekend, comon .. give us a few days break and please those who want to join the start at the weekend. You say you rather want to have 5 more days of testing then a start at the weekend, but hey whats all this rush ? Maybe you will have even less testing because of this for all the players who decide rather to not play it then because of this, even if not, is 5 more days that important ? ign: UpForJava Last edited by Upforsale on Oct 26, 2015, 9:07:17 AM

I like this idea GGG, Much love for all of your hard work and dedication throughout all these years.
Really love the idea of giving us something fresh to enjoy untill you refine your 3 month league. You deserve some respect and praise, not just endless whining and advice. Keep it up! |

" I have lots of love and respect too and already stated those elswhere ;) But i felt that GGG is interested in what players have to say, especialy if its more then "fuck this shit!!" (while even that is information) so I just said what I and all the people I play with think. ign: UpForJava

cutthroat would be fun, but limit it to say a player cannot visit areas no more that a certain % below their player level.
