Developer Questions and Answers

I love playing games and Path of Exile has been my go to game for the past few months. Me being only 16 i'm looking into going into a field that is involving computers and I've contemplated game design or game programming. Do you have any tips for how I can get started towards this dream?
Hi and keep up the great work!

- Will u reduce tradechat spam?
Solution: Only characters with level 25+ can use tradechat cause we cant trade earlier anyway
Another solution: Make a posting cooldown of 20 seconds or similar AND reduce the possible maximum of lines and linked items in one message AND reduce the channels at the same time (more players in one channel but less spam of same items)
Beside this, solution for global-chat spam could be: Make it usable only with level 5+

- Will u, as soon as we completed the masters quests in masters missions, give us a portal to the master? Or something else that players dont need to run 1-3 minutes a boring way back? (i think on gorge-mission here)

- Will u raise the capacity of possible masters in the hideout if they hit the max level? Its annoying to kick/reinvite the level 8 masters every day for the daily-quest.

- Will u add an option to rework the text of the auto-afk-message and/or turn it on/off ?

- Will u improve the ignore-list with a 1: list of the ignored names 2: make a note editable (like on friendlist) where i can write why i ignored the player 3: let a player get a reponse from the system if he whispers a player that ignored him/her (like: u have been ignored by this player)

- Will u add golem-options? Like passive (dont attack) and active (attack with player)

What are the current plans to address the unviable nature of mine builds? (trap builds are fine where they are)

What is your view of chase uniques post 2.0? Could you talk about where you'd like to go with uniques going forward?
is GGG ever going to buff pure phys/chaos builds?

i kinda like how POE allows players to make their own builds, but i kinda feel that the game is geared heavily towards elemental.

if you play heavy phys, you would gain A LOT of damage from running hatred + herald of ash. pure phys allows stun and passive tree leeches but thats all it has. the highest in the game that i can theory craft all include elemental damage.

does GGG have any plans to change this? skills that cannot produce elemental damage for example

• Will the Thanksgiving mtxs be making a return this year?
• What is the average length of time it takes for physical items to be processed and shipped (on GGG's end)?
• I know people have mentioned Guilds and if there is something going to be done about them, but are there actual plans for Guild events, control clicking into guild tabs, Being able to have different status's in guilds (more than officers and members), and the like?
• Are paid leagues with custom mods that people can privately have still something being thought about?
• In Diablo III there are unique (and set) items that substantially change the way a build interacts with enemies, are there plans for Path of Exile to have something similar introduced in the future?
• Options to disable weather/particle effects?
• Is the current map system something GGG is happy with? i.e grinding maps to get exp instead of some form of ladder map system where the rewards and experience get better as you progress (in contrast to straight map levels, refer to Diablo rifts)
• The current state of Divination cards, while a neat idea, is really trivial to people that just don't go into trade to buy them, any plans to address this, whether it be the overall drop rate of them or something else?
• Are there plans to make unique Jewels have a more impactful affect on one's build, with having things that could work like Null's Inclination and the like? (casting things on death, buffing damage with x criteria met, creating shields, etc.

As it stands right now, Divination cards feel like an extra piece of currency that might occasionally drop. Their current implementation makes it so I will never go and farm it myself. It was brought up shortly after the release, and I made a topic that got some traction behind it a month into the league (about 2 weeks ago).

Will divination cards be something that sees any changes?

Even without increasing the overall time required to finish a set, making the farming of them more streamlined by incrasing the drop rate and number required would make farming them feel like an alternative. Due to how horrible farming for one and not getting one after hours of gameplay feels, they're currently something that I occasionally randomly run into with no intent to farm

Three questions (two serious one and a silly one):

-Have you considered the problem of spectacle creep (that means, things get messy and graphically taxing and loss their luster when they scale out of control) for future expansions? Are you planning to go even bigger with next act (if there is one)?

-Some have said that the game has become somewhat like a Shoot'em up (like Touhou) given the emphasis on avoiding being hit, too much things on screen and bosses that are able to kill you easily. There is one thing that you are not doing too much, and that's it normal enviroments in an area able to kill you or damage you (I think that Haku missions provide some of that with the "totems" in those levels).
Would you use traps and obstacles for normal areas in the future? It would be fun if the game played like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gE_wulqfymQ
Add a Forsaken Masters questline

Any plans on ever adding native gamepad support?

Will you do anything to additionally increase the incentive to clear areas? Even with the added content (such as strongboxes), I mostly find myself impatiently running through content until the late-game.
