Does this work on AoE melee attacks like Ground Slam, Sweep, or Cleave?

Yes.

It appears that rather than the area of AoE being 30% smaller, it is actually the radius of AoE being 30% smaller, thus making the area 49% of the original size.
So either the tooltip needs to be updated, or the skill is bugged and is reducing the skill area too much. Personally, it would make sense to me that the tooltip is right and it shold be the area and not the radius decreased by 30% - affecting 1.5 less targets but doing 1.5 more damage at an increased mana cost. This was tested on a bow ranger using Rain of arrows - perhaps other classes could verify... |

Everything that affects AoE size does so by the radius afaik, that's why anything that increases it is so strong.

That would explain a lot... Makes me wonder how many different skills were balanced to account for the increase being for radius rather than area. Sounds like it is something the devs are aware of, so that is all that matters.

increasing the radius by a certain % is the same as increasing the area... Unless you mean the total superficial surface.

The stat description has been updated to make it clear that it's applied to the radius, and bring it in line with other describers for that stat.
