GG - What does it mean in Path of Exile?

I was quite surprised when someone first called an item gg.

From previous games gg normaly implied someone gave up - i.e. good game - you win

This made me think that the implication was that this item that was labelled gg were making the game trivial by it's existence.

Yet it seems like understanding the game mechanics is what helps a person more rather than a specific item. It seems to be the item itself only assist a person in being able to find more items that is also classed as gg items, so to be gg we need to have a set of gg's.

I do not think the acronym in path of exile should stand for good game - so I was thinking in asking what people thought gg should stand for.

Here were some of my thoughts:

Great Gear
Grinding Gear
Grinding Game

Please share what you think gg should stand for in Path of Exile.

Godly Gear
It also means Good Game, implying that you are done trying to find a piece of gear for that spot, aka the game is over for that gear. so Good Game

But GG is carried over from D2 years where it meant Godly Gear.

I like Godly Gear

Godly Grind came to mind
Just about whatever these days.
"Good, great!"
"Go, guys!"
"Grandparents' Gallstones"

I have never heard of 'gg' as 'godly gear' though; just 'good game', from my Guild Wars days. "That was a fun fight, good game". Sportsmanship, it matters :)
When the acronym 'GG' comes after or before the pinging of an item in chat a player thinks is awesome, GG = good game, or in some cases, godly gear (depending on what form of glorification a player is entertaining in mind toward an item or person), that which implies an item (or person) is so good that if used against another player in PvP would cause the opposing player to say, "GG" or "You win" so as to inadvertently admit their surrendering by not saying, "I give up. You win" or "I give up. GG."

That is what 'GG' means 99.9% of the time in any online game, the exception of the rule being 'GG' stands for something else like a common item, a company name (as in Grinding Gear Games), etc.
When game developers ignore the criticism that would improve their game, the game fails.
Just because a game receives a great amount of praise vs. only a small amount of criticism
does not mean to call it a day and make a foolish misplaced assumption that it is perfect.

It usually has multiple meanings;

Godly Gear mostly from D2
Good Game mostly from CS 1.3 - 1.5

In Path of Exile I mostly use it for Godly Gear or a way of saying, give up which doesn't quite make sense but if said in a context like:

Guy: "I'm doing pre-nerf piety act 4 on a ranger in HC"
Me: "Lol GG"

Basically implying that he's going to die, it's too hard, he's screwed, RIIIIP.

Really depends on the context you use it in, most older gamers have a general understanding of it though.

Contrary to popular belief, QQ is not a set of crying eyes. It actually originated with the advent of Warcraft II. On battlenet, you could press ALT+Q+Q to immediately exit the match and program. Thus the term "QQ" was to tell people to just quit because they are unskilled. The term later developed and lost it's origin and is usually mistaken as crying eyes.

In contemporary gamer culture, QQ has become the mainstream emoticon for crying eyes, though it is still often used in it's traditional sense.

"Shut up or QQ!"
"Why don't you QQ, noob?"

I played wc2 and I still didn't even realize that is where it came from even though I'm sure during ladder games I've said it.

Blew my mind.
I always assume GG, meant Good Game. So when I thought of it in terms of items, I saw it as a certain level of quality. By using that item you would have a 'good game' so to speak, as the stats on the item were very high or hard to come by, making you have a better gaming exp overall.
