Was this patch supposed to be fun?

I get that they wanted to make it more challenging but dying instantly over and over again in a boss fight isn't challenging. It's just stupid and makes me want to walk away from the game for a while. Maybe permanently if they don't adjust the difficulty. I've tried playing after the patch on my 73 Scion, saw that that was a mistake (they nerfed the crap out of my build), and tried it on my DS Duelist build. He's about level 57, has fairly decent gear, and died over and over again on the way to, fighting against, and fighting to the waypoint after Malachi.

At this point I'm stepping away and just keeping an eye out for any adjustments.

GG Devs. You "win" I suppose.

Is this not called a challenge? Is a challenge not fun?

Getting recked with my duelist aswell though. So now I'm just farming docks over and over again without getting the drops....
There's a difference between challenging and unfair. If a challenge is fair, people will feel that its their own fault they lost the fight and will rise up to perform better next time. In the case of some of these Act 4 bosses, the amount of damage output they can give out far exceeds the average player's equipment, and possibly even an above average player's equipment at those points in the game. Also, when the start of the next difficulty is easier than the end of the previous difficulty, its easier to just dive in, die a bunch, and come out the other end and start liking the game again.

I just did Cruel Act 4 with a friend of mine and even with some decent defense and all, most attacks were one shotting us.

Knowing that Merciless Act 1 will be 100 times easier than the bullshit that comes out of Act 4, instead of taking the fights carefully, we just let it kill us over and over until it he died.

If you want players to be good at the fights and think its not bullshit, there's gotta be some methodology to them and some super powerful attacks that come out with no warning.

In all honestly, I think the best part of Act 4 is Daresso's Dream. The area is pretty cool, and fighting Daresso is pretty fun. You can see his swords flying on the screen so that you don't walk into them. The ice mirror images take time to spawn and therefore give time to react to it and avoid it. The blades come out quick but the damage isn't hard to mitigate that you're stunlocked and can't get out of it for the average equipment.

The only attack Malachai telegraphs is the explosion after he comes up from the ground. Everything on Malachai's fight is a bloody mess, literally, and its hard to tell the hurtboxes from where is the safe areas are (which in many cases, I don't think there are any safe areas). The rape hands come out with no announcement as to when its coming and does incredible amounts of damage. The same goes for Piety's megalaser. Another annoying move is Shavronne's Lightning Tendrils against Melee characters, as her other moves aren't so bad to avoid.

It also makes me think about what they said in the 2.0.0 patch notes:

"We want people to actually kill the bosses in Maps", but then go right and say soon after "We made map bosses harder". If people didn't want to kill map bosses before because they weren't worth the risk to one's EXP, why would they now if you bumped up their difficulty? The low chance for an even lower +2 Leveled Map does not make up for it. I honestly do not know what they're thinking sometimes.

As it is right now, I wish Act 4 was optional, or at least stop after doing both dreams and shooting the cannon. The rest of Act 4 after that should be optional since its difficulty spikes way too high after that point. If they can scale back the difficulty of the bowels and after to the difficulty of Daresso's and Kaom's dreams, then it would be alright, but as it stands its too much.

Oh yeah, one other thing: Make Piety in Act 4 drop loot. Considering how difficult her fight can be, its silly she doesn't drop anything, whether you actually kill her or not there.

Your DW duelist that has hp on 2 different pieces of gear is dying frequently? Might i suggest getting some more items with life on them.
I am having plenty of "fun".
Noblesse oblige

I'm glad its not just me who thought "WTF" when dying over and over again. I am not the most XP player but I have been playing for almost a year now and have decent gear and such and I simply die over and over again. The thing is there might be a few builds with some expensive gear that can take M but what about the rest of the people playing other builds that are simply more fun than just tanks or glass cannons?

I like the graphics and some of the new gems and the trading cards, etc but final fight sucks balls. I simply do not enjoy it at all and its just something to endure to get past.
After looking through the gear and tress I had a great laugh.
I need a signature to look legit

Or, you know, they could actually fix evasion so it works properly. Even if I took your advice, where am I supposed to get this +life gear? From advancing through the story? Remember, it's a level 57 character that isn't even finished with Cruel yet. If the idea is to advance the difficulty with the level of the character in mind, the devs failed horribly.

I get that the hardcore players will say I'm a noob with noob gear and with noob builds. Guess what? I'm a casual player. I'm in my 40s and have a full time job. If the devs want to keep players like me, they'd better rethink act 4 and quick.
PoE is a game where you can avoid 95% of the bullshit they throw in your face if you play a ranged build, and you can bypass the remaining 5% (which is reflect) by playing totem/trap build.

Seems like every difficulty increase they implement mostly or only punish melee builds, this trend is going ages ago, and seems like they are happy with it.

Happy with the fact i feel myself like a glass cannon with my 4600 hp melee with capped res+fortify, and facerolling any map with any mods with dual totem 1900 hp uncapped res.

Because i can manually avoid shit, and i must not deal with the reflect shit.
"I'm programmed to say something that is kind and uplifting at this point, but there is apparently an error that is working in my favor."
No it wasn't supposed to be fun. It was supposed to be self-indulgent, abusive and a reason for the devs to pat each other on the back for being so "hardcore".
