You're not missing anything. That's about the right amount of health. You just need to get used to the playstyle.
Use your SRS for tanking. They work very well for some enemies (melee), not so well for others(ranged, goatmen etc). Your basic defense besides that is range and movement.
I also use a chaos golem. Good for tanking and distracting enemies and doesn't even need support gems (although I use culling). The totem also helps.
Just don't let stuff get near you.

My life is almost to 4k eHP, my res is overcapped, I can get 25 SRS out at once, and my mana regen is fine. I suppose when I get a 6L or Alpha's and have the extra aura I'll need more hp and mana/mana regen, but for now I'm mainly doing mf. And is 13% cast speed really more dps? For this build it's generally instakill everything for tankiness. For jewels we focus minion dmg, which for cast speed, jewels get like 2-4%, so basically nothing. But is getting my SRS to 26-27 at a time really a bigger dps boost than the minion dmg and speed? speed helps a ton for dps, not really easy to put a number to, and minion dmg affects all 25 SRS, so overall, I think it'd be a bigger dps boost, not that I really know how to calculate it out or anything.

The OP answered that on the third page.

Another thing to take into account is a +3 gives the spirits a lot more life, which can be quite useful against high damage AoE mobs like beyond bosses, Avatar and even Atziri.

I thought this too, but its been said, and on the wiki, that totems only get the affects of defensive auras, offensive ones don't work on them if they aren't on you. So when you use generosity, it negates the totems causing fire dmg for EE.

If you want to test it, just use generosity with anger and when EE procs, you can check what they're resistant/vulnerable to with your mouse.

Im either playing this or PA for the 1 month. Because I played this in WB, I might give PA a try and make a PA build guide in the same fashion as this one!

This is not true at all. Try it with generosity, the vulnerabilities will be correct.
