Ok, so what's the way to kill Piety in Bowels of the Beast?
Ok, so I now see why so many rants on Belly of the Beast. The tile set is pretty awful. So I get to first of 4 bosses, Piety. I have 83% fire res. yet all I can do is run around her as the fire beam is ista-death. So I watch a video to see how it's done. The player flame totems her and runs around to avoid the death beam. I have no flame totem so I run around her to avoid one-shot death. But now I can't attack her while running, but can't stop to attack or it's instant death. No place to hide either. No skill here except I have to run around her in circles to avoid insta-death. AND THIS IS ONLY NORMAL DIFFICULTY LEVEL! If I ever get through then what the H is Cruel and Merciless act 4 going to be like! These kind of boss fights sure limit build diversity if specific items (in this case an attack totem) are required.
So, looks like I need a flame totem, right? Wow, this is just 1st of 4 bosses. If this is taste of shitty boss rooms and one-shotting to come (0 way to dodge her insta-death beam except run clockwise around her. My bad luck she moved near the back wall too.) I may finally have to throw in the towel and say "no mas" to PoE. Sad that I'm shitty player (I love build crafting but am shitty on how to get a good build) but sadder that GGG falls into power creep trap and elite no-lifers that run the whole 4 acts x 3 in the first weekend. Ok, so without insulting me or any other troll crap posts LOLing how bad I am what can I do (besides quit, I asked politely for no troll posts)? I look at many build guides and try to duplicate a few but don't understand a ton of mechanics such as charges and how to keep them up. GGG doesn't explain how to craft well either and PoE is shit for trading (I don't have time to hunt down sellers). I used to enjoy PoE but now GGG caters to elite no-lifers only (my bad... GGG has always done that so act 4 is just more of the same shit). My bad again. It's hard not to rant when getting insta-death to 1st Belly of the Beast boss. signed, Depressed seeking build help ps. If I can't get any help to progress maybe I'll have to give away my Kiwi pet... bummer. "You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone..."

The trick is to run smaller circles, meaning getting really close to her. That should give you plenty of time to stop for a second to shoot. When I first did it there was also a few minutes of WTF, this is so impossible. But the closer I got to her, the easier it became and now it's pretty simple. By the way, I was using a CoC barrage char, so I actually stand in place shooting for a lot longer than most other builds. It takes a while to get off all those barrages, and still it wasn't a problem. For most other characters, running smaller circles will give you loads of time to shoot.

When I did it on normal I would attack (melee) until the beam got close, then whirling blades to the other side of her. The beam doesn't hit you if you pass right through her. It was pretty easy, I didn't die at all, although it was close a few times.

Yes you need flame dash/ leap slam/ whirling blades to do a little jumproping with her

You can actually cross the beam safely if you have enough move speed and are far enough away. You have to be in it for half a second or so for the damage to proc.

Her beam does lightning damage not fire. Prepare and bring a topaz flask. Many people complain about a lot of mechanics but never actually go out of their way to prepare and just go to every boss using their standard setups. Learn the bosses attacks and prepare for it.
Pop a topaz when she starts using her beam(usually every 7-10 seconds or so.) and pop a life flask that isn't Seething and you'll be good to go. So that way if you get hit the 1st time, you'll live, regen the lost health, then be able to run circles around her while occasionally using a skill to adds to regain flask charges. You said you just run around because you can't stop, pop a quicksilver to get ahead of her and a couple attacks in. The closer you stand to her the easier it is to get ahead of the beam. If anything, I think she hits a bit hard given the beam, as melee I'd sometimes lose 30% of my hp from one of her melee attacks. While the beam would do somewhere around 50-70%. Perhaps I'm not stacking enough armor because of gear lack but she does indeed hit very hard. -[2.0] Tokyo's CoC Hybrid Damage Frostblader ---> view-thread/1401907

I do it in cruel with my witch in HC, and it was a really intensive battle.
Run into a little circle around her, when she will does her laser, you (normally) have time to run behind and don't be hit. If you are hit by the laser, take a BLEEDING REMOVES red flask to recove your life quickly (The flask remove bleeding during the effect). If you can, take an Immortal call and use it for the laser, you will no take damage. I do it with only an animate guardian (who don't survive xD) and a chaos golem, if you can put a minion life and exp the chaos golem gem. Mine have 10000hp, he do'nt survive yeah, but he can do minimum damage before dying with the bleeding. The advantage it is because he seems fast, and when you are solo front the boss, a minion like the golem chaos is very good. The bosses will strike him(it) rather than you what will allow you he can save your life, will strike and will observe what takes place in the tiny zone! If you can have some regen life, it would be nice, Is not afraid of being struck by her big balls of blood, they widely less hurt than her laser, and as kept silent courres they will not affect you a lot. Sorry if my english it's not perfect >.< Last edited by FairyDream#2468 on Jul 15, 2015, 4:58:00 AM

Oh shit, the death beam is lightning damage. Thanks for the info. Hmm... I do have a Flame Dash gem. So FL right through her while the beam is active will not cause any damage. Very good to know. Topaz flask, got it.
Thanks to all for the info. Much appreciated. "You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone..."
