I am 70 lvl and alredy have got big problems..

I'm currently playing this build and really enjoying it. Kinda went off track about 3/4 of the way though. I still have all the main nodes but gone deep for spell crit damage to make use of the Infernal Mantle robe.
Currently lvl 78 and sitting at 15kdps per totem, 40% crit chance and 8 attacks per second so tempted on swapping helm to Three Dragons to get the shock ability

Getting hard to get damage gains from here on out though.

The build works great, even better than my previous flame totem build. However one question though: What Ascendancy Labyrinth enchantments do you recommend?

Maybe this question already was in this thread, but. Why he did not picked up elemental overload? You just spend 3 points on passive tree, 3 sockets on gear, fill them with ice spear - gmp - increased crit strikes and you are basically have perma 40% more elemental damage. Its just so much more damage! Why not to pick up?

Thanks for pointing this out, I had personally completely missed this new node of 2.2.
So I decided to give it a try this morning. After a little bit of thinking, I respecced the whole chaos cluster on the top left (I’m playing poison btw) and with the free 6 points I took elemental overload + the 3 cast speed nodes just above.

Doing that my DPS went down from 33k to 32k, meaning -3% only (which for the most part represent the loss of the crit multiplier. I must say also that I don’t use the Faster Casting gem, so every % of cast speed is very good for me).

Then I linked Ice Spear + GM + increased crit, as you suggested Worldatwar, and tested a little bit. The first thing is that it works as expected, 8s duration (there is a icon with a countdown for the buff), 40% more damage. So while the buff is active my DPS reaches 44,5k. The second thing is that it procs quite consistently, between 3/5 and 4/5 of the time I would say.

Then I tried in a CWDT setup level 1, because casting manually is not ideal. The proc rate stayed the same. My setup was:



Then I made a couple of maps, between T8 and T10. I wouldn’t say that it’s up all the time, far from that. The problem is that with a Fire Totem build you try to avoid being hit. So for example in Torture chamber or in Necropolis, when you drop your totems at the entrance of a room and stay hidden behind them, it just doesn’t proc. It’s better in open field, and of course very good against ranged monsters or spell casters. All in all, I would say that even if not always up, it’s still very strong because it procs when you really need it, that is, when you are hit. For example during pretty much all the boss fights it was up. But for cleaning white packs, maybe it’s not that usefull, unless you are rushing through them. It’s certainly better for an aggressive playstyle.

I’m going to experiment more in higher level maps, and Atziri runs. Maybe also retry manual casting with Faster Casting as 3rd support.

Is the passive Diamond Skin not worth taking? For the noob that I am 15% to all resistances seems tempting for 1 skill point because I am struggling with chaos resistance pretty hard right now. What do you guys think?

I'm also thinking about picking up the 30 Int and Dex nodes to be able to drop those stats from rings. I need a lot of them for wands and skills.
Finally, Combat Stamina, Indomitable and Sanctuary look very solid as well, although the latter would cost a lot of skill points to get and might be overkill in terms of Elemental resistances.

I guess at the end of the day the provided skill trees are just guidelines. What other nodes that I missed do you think may be worth taking?

Diamond Skin and the other elemental resist nodes do not give chaos resist, only nodes that specifically say chaos resist grant it.
