[2.2 Video Guide] Beginner's Build: Dual Flame Totem, Blood Magic Chieftain [Atziri & HC/SC Viable]

Im not using another totem combination of gems for extra rarity. Could u suggest me something else instead of it?

Btw great guide, and the build is really beginner-friendly. Reached 79 lvl so far with my first char in PoE:)

Dual curse is a no brainer for those who have time to cast 2 curses :)

It would be good against bosses, thats true. Currently I run Flammability and hardly have time to cast it due to either mobs dying too fast or in case of bosses, re-casting the totems while running around.

I might re-spec and try it out.

One more thing you gain by speccing out of BM is the need for armor items. You can go pure caster items with alot of ES (I have 4k HP and 2,5k ES). I also have 51k tooltip dps each totem in hideout. I only have a 5-link and one of the slots is Fire Pen so my tooltip dps is only from 4-link.

I play self-found so my items are by far not BiS so there is alot of room for improvement on my gear.

IMO this is the best build for Flame Totems (Not my exact build, but the concept rather). When you are doing 50k+ dps per totem, even bosses go down very quicky wich in itself, is the best defense.

This is the first character I have that can do deathless Atziri runs in self-found gear.

With the amount of cast speed we have, the second curse takes less than 0.1s (anbd prob less than 0.05s) - it's immaterial cast time. You should be having well in excess of 10 casts / sec with your build.

Also, if you're playing in maps over level 80, then you'll know rares/uniques/bosses dont die immediately - and thats when dual curse is amazing. For trash it's pointless, as you say, even for solo maps >80. But bosses (etc) is why we stack dps, not for trash.:)

Can you link your gear and screenshot the 51k dps totem (5l with fire pen) in ho along with 4.0k life/2.5k ES? I struggle to reconcile that with my build comparison above...? (my totems to a little over 70k solo but thats with 4 pc's/6L and no fire pen). I run 4.9k life and 1.7k ES.

I'm defenetly going to try dual curse. Flammability and Temp Chains probably. Will test what is the best combo.

Also have this on the side to try 6-link :

You really should be running Fire Pen if you aren't already, it's specially important vs rares and bosses who have immense ele resists but with Fire Pen we go past that.

What are your defensive stats with that build and gear?
I have a question?

What is better for chest? Fire pen or Flammability + other Gem (if this variant - advise Gem)?

Cool, I think once you try dual curse you won't go back. It's great to be able to choose whether to go all out offence (eg Flmmability + Assassin's MArk (my fave)) or defensive on tough maps (Enf+Temp Chains). I gem them with Faster Cast and IAOE of course.

I can see why you've got quite a lot of dps too - you're using Mali's gloves, Doryani's belt and a 60% crit multi ammy - all big dps boosts. I stack more life (5k vs 3.9k) and I personally like to have overcapped resistances for maps so I don't have to worry about the mods we're running.

I generally use Fire Pen more often than not too - always on Fire Resistance maps, but sometimes if it's an easy map I'll chuck in iron will (my Strength is in the high 200s).

Thanks again for comparing notes, always interesting.

Main defense is mobility, dps (creatures die fast) and let the totems tank for you :

Hi all, level 69 Witch (Tempest), following the passive tree pretty much spot on.

I currently have a 5-link armour based plate and im thinking of swapping to mantle but im concerned i will start taking big hits. Is movement speed the main defence when using something like mantle?

Also I'm struggling with my dexterity requirements, any suggestions (assume gear is the only way)?

Thx for posting this build! I followed it to the letter. Missing 2 more levels until complete but I finally have 20/20 gems so it's time I post my gear! Note that I'm using fire penetration. Note that some spells I wear to simply level up.

Character Stats

Gear

Considering the amount of Spell Damage that I have I might use Empower instead or Iron Will when I get a 6L and I'm curious to try dual wand once I get the level 93 and will care less about dieing. Also going to grab some MF gear later see what it's all about..

Any gear suggestions are welcomed!

Well you will pick up quite a bit of ES with the mantle... that helps. Moving and having the totems attract the attention (and kills things fast) are the big ones.

If you need to don't be shy about taking a +30 dex node... you can always regret it once you get your gear sorted out such that you don't need it.
