Exile event, character now unplayable?

So, I was just about to get my second amulet for Alira in act 2, when i Logout macro'd to keep myself from dying, still had a quarter health remaining but i log back in and my character is in void league. I'm confused, does this mean my character actually died according to GGG servers? or does the league lock the character if you use a macro to log out. Hope to get some feedback soon thanks
