Incident Report for Item Loss Bug
" the fact that people are probably claiming theyre missing items when they are not yeah this world kinda sucks |

Full respect for detailed technical info on the bug and a quick fix.
" Not necessarily. They may have a log of error occurrences, or just an estimate of a frequency it was occurring with. They must have a server crash log; they could estimate chances of the error affecting the data without crashing the server and actually making specific changes to items. " " They have logs. Whether or not items were deleted on purpose, or disappeared due to the bug, there's a log for it. So someone claiming a lost item with no corresponding item deletion log, is obviously lying, and is easily ignored. Others claiming a lost item with a corresponding item deletion log, have a legitimate claim. ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ Give moar Power Creep Pls Last edited by Druga1757#1370 on May 12, 2015, 9:58:30 AM

" This logic bombs me every time it pops up. "Only act when you are directly affected. But don't forget to save the world." The Sirus fight is a disgrace.
|
|
" vaaling an item into a rare, then deleting it. also, they would still have to check if they are actually lying or not, which would take a lot of rescources |

The only thing I wanted to say is that they could contact those 300 and just give them something in return to make them happy. No need to inform people about that. That's it.
I was once on really cool conference where one guy said that it's completely not profitable to spend hell a lot of time on fixing some bugs which actually may popup once a several months. Basically because your application life-time is not so big. Better is send to the guy who was affected by a bug iPad. That's a business. I'm not suggesting that GGG should send over 300 iPads now, but giving them back Shavs or couple of exalts would do the job. May God have mercy upon my enemies; they will need it.

" Again, there's a log for it. So people who didn't vaal, and items were deleted (ie., not sold to vendor) have a legit claim. It's only 300 cases, we're not talking thousands that have to be reviewed. All the obvious ones could be restored, the questionable ones could be investigated further to weed out scammers. ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ Give moar Power Creep Pls |

" This. "The absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence."

" Because you really want to rollback ALL the server on a db save older than 1 month ( yes this bug is 1 month old ) ? really ? IGN TylordRampage Last edited by Malone#6946 on May 12, 2015, 10:55:14 AM

While my heart belongs on the side of those who have lost their unreimbursed in-game items, here is something to think about. Whether you are in the mood to read this is completely up to you.
Nepal was just hit by (another) earthquake, this time a 7.3 on the Richter scale. People grieve for their lost loved ones, and nobody can blame the government for it. The government can't bring back the dead, but they do what they can to help. Those who mourn have no one to blame, and are just left with memories to cherish. Those who still live are the lucky ones. Disaster may strike again, and it may not. But if and when it does, everyone must brace themselves and stay strong. I don't live in Nepal, nor do I play in GGG's server, but I care for both.
