what would you have done if you were in charge? tell players to stop playing until the bug is found? (because that's the only reasonable procedure there to prevent further damage)

without knowing details about the bug at all?

Items with mtxs disappeared. Even if ggg didn't believe an item has disappeared (rather than the owner "accidentally" deleting his windripper or just making up a story), items have disappeared with mtxs on them. GGG can certainly look for mtxs (and they should have records of purchased mtxs).

So yes, I think they should've at least put out a warning.

you know exactly when this happened? i guess reports on missing items with microtransactions came rather late.

Sorry only on my phone at the moment, so can't dig through the bug report forum looking for the first report. However, in the thread I made in GD the first few reports I linked were from the 3rd & 4th. And GGG have said that they've been working on a fix since a week (so were aware of the bug at that point at the latest).

Edit: this email from GGG is from last month: http://imgur.com/PCOUIwd

I also just found out items where disappearing from the stash as-well.
If this is the case, there is no way for me to find out what items are missing or even what MTX vanished from my stash.

This causes allot of distress.
Maybe when I get my main MTX back from my vanished chest piece I'll feel like playing again but what if there was more?

I'd like a log of all purchased MTX on my web account please.

And it does NOT help to name windows or microsoft here. If you compare their policy with GGG's, you don't do a favor to GGG.

In North Korea they take your daughter and don't even give any rice in exchange. You should be grateful that you get your MTX back.

Go away.

Just admit GGG made a blunder, instead of trying to play devils advocate.

Or, at least, play it well ;)

and the guy who lost his acuitys must feel like shit.

I also think, that people who lose items like their Acuity's is a very hard thing to accept. On the other hand restoring items, would be kind of a taboo to break. It's a tough call and I would certainly understand some1 quitting the game for losing his Acuity's. Yet it still makes sense for GGG to stand firm at some points.

This. Of course for that one person it sucks and GGG acknowledge it, but restoring lost items when they are not distinguishable from other deleted items is a gate GGG surely should not open. By the way, the guy that lost his acuities seems to be fine according to his post on Reddit :

"If my report helped them fix something in the game so that the same thing thing doesn't happen to someone else in the future, then great. Luckily, I'm well-off enough on Standard to take a ~150ex hit like that (it hurts still), but someone else who isn't able to absorb the loss might have quit forever."

Rrtson is a good guy and wealthy enough. The chaps who lost their shavs / windripper on the other hand. Not so wealthy.

We believe that less than 300 items were affected in total.

If it is known, how often the bug occured, so why not restore max 300 items, players claim being lost?

Or at least restore broken items, where broken items still exists? Like that helmet without any sockets.

If I'm a sysadmin and through my bad job my company losts some important files, I cant just say "very sorry, can do anything about that".

Seriously, most of the people posting on this thread to express their "outrage" weren't even directly affected.

Haven't ya'll anything better to do than get worked up over an "injustice" on an online game forum? Plenty of real injustice in the world to apply your energies to. This nonsense just makes y'all look like a buncha goobers. =0[.]o=

I believe he actually intended to quit initially, if you look at his initial thread on reddit. You'll also see that some people were calling him an entitled baby for saying so.

Even if GGG is unable to restore lost items this time round, the possibility of this happening again is unsettling. If confusion with player-deleted items is such a big deal, then they need to remove the player ability to delete items or institute more detailed logging so that this can't happen again.

Maybe I am generalizing, but I feel like most of the people who don't care about item loss either:
1. Don't have any significant wealth in permanent leagues
2. Would prefer permanent leagues to be wiped because they don't have any significant wealth

Saving for 100 ex+ items requires a non-trivial amount of time and/or effort, and the risk of losing something, even if it is <300 out of whatever million, is unacceptable in a game like this one. But that's been repeated ad nauseam.

This has always happened, friend of mine lost 3 mirror as a result...

Sure he did ;)
The fact that Chris has come along here and apologized says a lot about GGG as a company.

I don't know how to convince you anymore,
Apart from my word, I run a Mirror service @ lvl 100, if you wish feel free to inspect my account and characters, This bug has been happening for a while now, as for my friend, it happened Early in the forsaken masters, he sold 4 Acuity's for 3 Mirrors.

We've even sent a email to GGG back then, nothing can be done about it, Just a simlar reply was made by GGG.

If we are talking about the same person and this trade seems like we do, he didnt lose it due to this bug but to the fact that the mirrors were probably duped. I wont reveal any names ofc.
