Aura Reservation and Reduced Mana Support Gem Change

So you're taking one common, normal to level gem, making it completely useless, while replacing it with an uncommon, huge pain in the butt to level gem, making it completely mandatory?

Here are two simple facts:
-No matter how much lower you make the aura costs, Enlighten will STILL be mandatory to use.
-Reduced Mana will never get used except for by leveling chars who have a Tabula. Seriously, who uses reduced mana with skills? Skills=DPS, supports for skills=DPS/utility.. you'll need to make reduced mana give a MUCH lower multiplier for it to be considered for skills - something like 30-50%.

Reduced Mana can have much higher values than previously, making it a better choice for reducing skill mana costs.

Same as before then? Only it has a much higher cost now. And seriously, who would not want to reduce the mana reserved, instead of Reduced mana being a mandatory gem you make this change for a ten times worse gem? If you really did want to change this why have reduced mana reservation included in any gem at all?

And seriously, who would use reduced mana in a skill-setup? I rather use another skill instead of this elemental shit or what ever.

I wonder what you have in store for use next week :)
"Axe bad! Fix please!"
i recall something : in Ziggy D interviewing Chris and/or Rory - *if im not so deluded - one of them considered reducing the exp-requirement-treshold, to create a "faster" Enlighten.
I hope they consider this point, other to turn Enlighten the new-old-reduced mana.
"-Moments of clarity are so rare, i´d better document this."
So instead of Reduced Mana everyone will be using Enlighten which now costs 10ex. Okay, nice change.
If properly done this is a very good change.

Thinking positive on this one.
Oblivious
I like it. It basically means only heavy aura builds will invest in enlighten. more build diversity is good for poe.

How is everyone gonna use enlighten when it cost 10 exalt?. 99% of people wont be able to afford it so only people who are making a full aura build will invest in that.

I believe that the change is designed to effect the builds that don't acquire reduced mana reservation from the tree and rely on reduced mana to run multiple auras. At comparable multipliers enlighten is a lot harder to acquire for basically the same effect.

old reduced mana
level 21 .70 42.0 28.0 17.5
level 17 .74 44.4 29.6 18.5
level 13 .78 46.8 31.2 19.5
level 9 .82 49.2 32.8 20.5
level 5 .86 51.6 34.4 21.5
level 1 .90 54.0 36.0 22.5
no gem 60.0 40.0 25.0

enlighten
level 6 .80 40.0 28.0 20.0
level 5 .84 42.0 29.4 21.0
level 4 .88 44.0 30.8 22.0
level 3 .92 46.0 32.2 23.0
level 2 .96 48.0 33.6 24.0
level 1 1.0 50.0 35.0 25.0
no gem 50.0 35.0 25.0

but with lower base costs reduced mana reservation on the tree is more desirable but I am too tired to do the math for every interval of that.

got a coffee did the math.

___ 60 _ 50 _ 40 _ 35 _ 25
2_ 58.8 49.0 39.2 34.3 24.5
4_ 57.6 48.0 38.4 33.6 24.0
6_ 56.4 47.0 37.6 32.9 23.5
8_ 55.2 46.0 36.8 32.2 23.0
10 54.0 45.0 36.0 31.5 22.5
12 52.8 44.0 35.2 30.8 22.0
14 51.6 43.0 34.4 30.1 21.5
16 50.4 42.0 33.6 29.4 21.0
18 49.2 41.0 33.8 28.7 20.5
20 48.0 40.0 32.0 28.0 20.0
22 46.8 39.0 31.2 27.3 19.5
24 45.6 38.0 30.4 26.6 19.0
26 44.4 37.0 29.6 25.9 18.5
28 43.2 36.0 28.8 25.2 18.0
30 42.0 35.0 28.0 24.5 17.5
32 40.8 34.0 27.2 23.8 17.0
34 39.6 33.0 26.4 23.1 16.5
36 38.4 32.0 25.6 22.4 16.0
38 37.2 31.0 24.8 21.7 15.5
40 36.0 30.0 24.0 21.0 15.0
42 34.8 29.0 23.2 20.3 14.5
44 33.6 28.0 22.4 19.6 14.0
46 32.4 27.0 21.6 18.9 13.5
48 31.2 26.0 20.8 18.2 13.0

at least I got it to line up right.

Enlighten will give you an additional aura for normal builds, just like Reduced Mana did. You don't have to be a full aura build to benefit from that, especially given the state of auras in the beta.

It just means that 10 ex means your build is 20-30% better where before it took 1 chaos. Wow, what fun game design.

I mean, I love the change removing it from Reduced Mana. It lets them do a lot of cool stuff and balance much, much better. I just hate the addition to Enlighten.

We're trying out a change to aura costs, the Reduced Mana support, and the Enlighten gem on Beta. This change involves reducing the base mana reservation on reservation skills, changing the Reduced Mana gem to only apply to costs but with a much greater reduction, and having the Enlighten support gem reduce reservation and cost at lower values than Reduced Mana gave.

These are the intended results of the change:
As they no longer work with Reduced Mana, we can make reservation costs less mana intensive for characters that previously wouldn't have access to Reduced Mana, and reduce socket pressure for players that previously would have needed a Reduced Mana support to reach the same reservation levels.
Enlighten becomes a much more desirable support. It now gives an option for end-game builds that are willing to give up sockets to reduce reservation, without the support being so impactful that every build that uses auras feels that it's absolutely necessary.
Reduced Mana can have much higher values than previously, making it a better choice for reducing skill mana costs.

It's worth noting that a very high level Enlighten gem can reduce aura reservation costs to the point of the old Reduced Mana support and below, and that aura reservation costs are now often lower than otherwise possible until player level 45. We're also planning to increase the power of Mana passives in the tree that will give mana constrained builds more access to larger total mana pools.

Reduced Mana removal for Auras but Auras cost less to keep it relatively even? +1
Swapping "Old" Reduced Mana to Enlighten? -1

It's just a change I don't agree with.
"We're going to take a system everyone is familiar with and shove it into a gem that is harder to find and harder to level."
If the goal was to free up gem slots and not nerf auras than auras need their base reservation reduced by another 5-10% or the aura reservation nodes need to be buffed. Right now it is a straight nerf to all my builds.
