How Divination Card Submission Will Work

Just another magic the gathering ripp off
so if i get it right, we can "farm" kaoms heart and other uniques by leveling in zones that drop the respective card? i think trading system is ok the way it is so far..

unless it goes for new, card only uniques, which would be fine
Kind of worried this will end up similar to Bounties in Diablo 3.
I'm not entirely sure what to think of a system like this yet, I just hope it isn't going to promote players farming the same area's all the time for the highest value loot or to just get build enabling item "X".

Area's that allow players to increase their odds of finding item "X" can sometimes can be the beginning of the end of some RPG's. Ultimately it reduces the need for social interaction with other players through trading and vastly changes the economy of the game.
If it forces you to avoid certain area's of the map in order to find a desired item, it also makes farming feel less varied and just that in itself can make the game boring.

I really hope I'm proved wrong but I'm just going on what happened with Diablo. Most knowledgeable players would tend to agree that's where Diablo 3 started to become stale because it lost an element of progression and challenge.

I've not tried the beta yet but as long as the game remains a challenging, stat/theory crafting based RPG that wants you to make difficult spec and gearing choices then it has a future. The moment it becomes too much like blizzard's Diablo 3....That'll be the end of PoE.

I like the Map system in PoE personally, it's varied, challenging, highly progression based and requires you to use your head a little.
I think the Maps system makes diablo's "rift system" look like a joke. I'd prefer the focus to be kept more on Map's then a "Bounty" style form of farming, you only need to look at diablo 3 to know that bounty style farming is very....very...boring.

I'm really hyped to find Divination cards ingame at some point! :)

E: And a stack of mirrors? Really? How rare would that card even be? I mean if you're not seeing a single mirror in 2-3k hours of playtime, I imagine you would need to collect at least 1000 cards for a stack of mirrors... o.O

And Divi-ception: Once the first supporter has created a card for a Shavs, the second one can then create a card for the Shavs card? Sounds fun!

In b4 someone creates a card, that gives the card, that gives the card, that gives the shavs card.

But I'll admit, I do wish we could get some small tweaks to pre-existing items, like a level 74-78 Cowards Trial would be pretty pimp, even if that's not a legitimate corruption.

It would also be nice to know all the new uniques and affixes and skill gems and base types, so we can consider that.
.
Everything you do is sub-optimal.

I don't get why people are so concerned about the value of their items.
Things will fluctuate and admittedly this will be a big change.

But the option to go for a specific unique sounds fantastic to me. There are lots of the great uniques I don't have and after 2k+ hours played, I feel it's a good change to be able to get them in a more deterministic approach.

I'm by no means poor, I own about 5 6L-items and many expensive uniques and if they drop in price I feel more than compensated if I'm able to get the few that I'm looking for.

Trading is often times not an option if you like to have more than one well-equipped character for diversity.

I think it's more an alternative to being lucky with RNG or and a perceivable reward to work towards. eg. I have 1/3 + 3/3 exalted orb cards! only need that 2/3 for the exalted, instead of maybe I'll get a lucky drop today or maybe next week :( You'll be able to see some progress as well as still getting the RNG chance. Also nice for those who like to play self-found.

Sounds like a lot of fun to me. More options is good. Trading fun too :)

100% Ethical, most of the time.

really looking forward to this!
love collecting stuff in games like this and the more the better :)

could we get some more info about the number of cards though? Is it just collect x amount of cards of a set or are the cards within a set numbered individually? That would open up trading between them more but would get pretty cumbersome and a real PITA for large sets...
So kinda hoping it will just be a number of the same card required. If not though, I really hope all cards within a set have the same chance of dropping unlike the sacrifice shards for example

This isn't the main problem in my opinion, I honestly feel that giving players a choice to maximize their odds will encourage people to just farm certain area's to be most efficient rather then where they enjoy. Ultimately this could become similar to bounties in diablo 3 and people will feel forced to farm certain area's then use the wonderfully dynamic Map system.

Sure there's the arguement "They don't have to farm that area" but people will... Everyone is looking for their own edge in RPG's and if players can find a method to farm currency faster, you can be sure they will. I don't want to potentially have to farm a boring zone like this just to get item "X".
I want the loot to be kept random, when you finally get the item it feels so much more rewarding because you were not expecting it.
I like having to trade with other players to get the item I want, or trading Items I've found...It's social and a random drop loot system helps to keep the integrity of server's economy, ensuring that trading remains an important aspect of the game.

A system that allows you to more reliably farm an item reduces the need for that brings PoE one step closer to tittles like Diablo 3 which have wandered way of course.

I really really feel this is a step in the wrong direction for PoE and I'm worried because I have been looking forward to this expansion for months now.
