He did a great job upon his first visit to Act 4 (checking lore, etc) and IMO is one of the best advocates for PoE.

ZiggyD gets that it's a "beta", not a "race"; he's doing things like letting bosses smash him just to check their damage, and then recording his findings. I can learn a lot from watching him trying out his ideas, and testing the theories of his stream viewers. He has a spreadsheet with his findings posted as well; I linked it a few pages ago, but here it is again:

Mhmm. I watched Mors when he got in real quick after the beta launched.

I watched him ignore the chat asking to see tree, gems, anything that was different. The placements of the jewel slots, base stats on gems, levelling progression on gems, new stats on weapon bases, everything just ignored.

I hung in to see Act 4 and was amazed to see him rushing through it with map overlay on full opacity even in town. I left, then.

Several hundred (thousand?) people watching his stream for info on Act 4 and all ignored because the guy was racing in a 1 horse race.

Ziggy was far more informative.

One month of Bloodlines is already too much Bloodlines. No thanks.

Add red/blue seraph wings to event rewards. Let us complete our sets!! :D

Why not a HC Cutthroat race for Beta keys? It would be fun :D

Only problem i see with this 5 day league is this game is just not made for Self found. I don't even care about the gear requirements, more about the annoyance that you are dependant on gems to drop.

Unless they come up with some ingenius plans just for this race, i see only a few builds being used. The ones that don't need external gem supplies. And there aren't many.

Ohh yea Can't wait .. To take a break :) and this seems like a good time for that. W/a job and limited time to play this weekend it's a bust for me to even reach level 70. Good luck to all others that have the time tho and have a great time.

Before Ambush hit default, this would have been a harder thing to accomplish. Before masters, this would have been harder to accomplish.

Now that both of them exist, it's not nearly as hard to get ahold of gems in a vacuum as one might think. There are far more builds that are not dependent on dropped gems than you are thinking of, as well, and don't forget that while this is solo and self-found, it's not limited to one character, but one account. You still have a stash, but it's isolated to the race. You can still mule gems across from other classes and difficulties if there is a need for a very specific gem that lies outside of your quest progression.

Spamming zones to farm for strongboxes is not against the terms of service unless you do it in an automated fashion. A couple of really nice gemcutter's boxes should have you set for just about anything you had in mind, or drop something totally new right in your lap.

If you are not familiar with what causes vendors and masters to refresh their inventory, and some of the more useful vendor crafting recipes, now is the time to go do that research before the league begins tomorrow. You'll get a huge jumpstart that way. Vendors and masters refresh on different criteria, so be sure you know what you are wanting to get so you know what to aim for and don't accidentally cause a refresh.

The hardest part when trying to work with masters early on is going to be having the correct currency. Not being able to trade currency around and having to rely on standard vendor conversions is probably going to be your biggest bottleneck for a while, especially if you have to take a bite and downconvert because you really really need something that costs a lower level currency.
