Maraketh Weapons?

One is a new class of uniques, the Maraketh Weapons. Grinding Gear told me it got to have a lot of fun with the Maraketh Weapons. Previous uniques were, as Grinding Gear told me, created to “fill a niche.” That period of the game is pretty much over now, though. There's a unique weapon for practically every niche imaginable, so with the Maraketh Weapons the designers got to really push some boundaries.

For instance, one weapon I was shown made any applied spell effects get cast in a nova around the player instead of in the standard pattern. This would allow a somewhat weaker character to still wade into battle without worrying about getting surrounded. Another weapon sucks all surrounding enemies towards players, allowing them to tank more effectively. A third—this time, a bow—spawns minions around the player every time an enemy dies.

It's a bunch of slightly-crazy effects that really open up the end-game in terms of character customization.


Soooo aren't they just uniques? What exactly is different about Maraketh weapons from other uniques? Are they always more powerful? Never have downsides? Rarer?

I'm also very curious on this point.
They are a new class of weapons with new implicit mods. The reviewer sounds confused.
Judging by given examples it's uniques that alter core mechanics or add new ones rather than just give stats. Maraketh or not, I like where it's headed.

Pretty sure the maraketh weapons are just the new sword bases. Whoever wrote that was confused.

New weapon bases, not just swords.

They have powerful new implicits, and can roll powerful affixes.

There are no Maraketh uniques AFAIK.

There is no way it will come out of beta with those stats, atleast I dont hope so as it got higher dps, higher crit and better Implicit then normal 2H sword.

2h swords needed a buff but not sure if creating this new weapon base as BiS to make reavers, vaals useless is the answer. Imp mod in this makes sense but reaver and vaal overall damage should be buffed and higher than this new blade.
