A few words about Global 820
First of all, I'd like to address a heartfelt thanks to all of those who have altruistically shared both masters and encounters from 1.2 up to the current one-month leagues. Thanks to you, so many of us have completed challenges and reached milestones we wouldn't even have come close to without your help. Thanks to you, what began as a small chat dedicated to master sharing and evolved into a popular medium for grinding challenges has remained a hub of generosity and good will. You're the true heroes here.
But despite the amazing success Global 820 has already had, it can still come off as confusing, and it isn't entirely free of the out-of-context or unnecessary bloat you'd expect from a global chat. So what you're about to read is simply some indicative, common-sense advice that I hope can make 820 more friendly, more efficient, and more constructive. I - Global 820 isn't a trade chat Global 820 was conceived as a sharing channel, and even though its reach has now broadened, its core function hasn't. If you're writing in this chat, it's ostensibly to share a master mission, share an encounter, or recruit players willing to start a rotation. Global 820 is supposed to foster a climate of generosity and cooperation, and it would be a shame to ruin it with prices, offers, and fees. There is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to sell an encounter that's in very high demand - but there's a right place for everything. And there so happens to be a trade chat conceived precisely for that purpose. --> What about tips? Can we ask for them? Yes, you can. Tips, by definition, are optional, and are given out of generosity, while fees are paid out of necessity. If you wouldn't mind a few currency donations, but still want to share in Global 820, adding something like "tips appreciated" is absolutely fine. In fact, you'll often be surprised by what people are willing to give, even without being asked. Just make sure that those tips are indeed optional. If you ask for "required tips: 2c", well, that just isn't a tip anymore. And that belongs in Trade. --> But if I sell an encounter in Trade, how do I keep it from getting lost in between item trades? How can I target the right player population? After all, a good part of it is already in 820. That's a solid point. Which is why I suggest creating a Trade 820 channel, if that hasn't been done already. This way, those willing to buy encounters can turn on Trade for offers, while those simply looking for a sharing environment can stick to Global. II. "And I still haven't found what I'm looking for..." If you're still looking for a relatively common encounter, it can be useful to let others know. But please don't spam the fact that you need to find the rarer ones. Because we all need flicker strike Vagan - and shoving a laundry list of all the masters you want in 820 won't make him magically appear (no, not even if you offer 25 mirrors for it). If someone in 820 has spawned a rare encounter, you can bet he'll have shared it already. Just keep calm, and wait for your turn. It's much more considerate, and much more effective. III. I THINK PEOPLE ARE MORE LIKELY TO PAY ATTENTION IF I USE CAPS LOCK Absolutely not. In fact, they're more likely to ignore you if you do. So do us all a favor, and try not to use it. IV. Naming and Shaming It's a good thing to let chat know that a particular player has left a rotation on his turn, or misbehaved during a mission - but don't make a witch hunt out of it. Let us know once, and we'll all be grateful. Just don't spam it till the cows come home. There. I hope you found these comments helpful. If anyone has any suggestions (or misgivings) about what I wrote, or has additional tips I haven't integrated into this thread, just let me know. Cheers! Being someone who used the chat all last season and for half of this race iv never had a problem with those selling one off things such as asking for tips for rare finds, from my experience traders spam less in there then those who rage at them do.
Much like those who trade in chat they will just glance at your thread and move on so idk why posting at all. **Iv said it once ill say it again if someone doesnt have a peice of gear that went legacy you _____________________________clearly didnt want to play the build at the time it was OP.**__________________

This confirmed what I've once said about global 820. It was once a nice place till people start to sell encounters and naming and shaming. Having a trade 820 will not work either cuz look at current global chat lmfao. One solution don't force people to not send wts and wtb, let them do whatever they want.

It is getting pretty bad , the last day of the 1 month i played
i offered 3 master missions i had found on 820. on all three occasions i had a person ask if i was charging money. There is a problem , and it needs fixing. |

I used to lurk in 820 every day, sharing my masters 8lvl's, joining the other's dailies etc.
But almost every god damn time some turd either starts zana without everyone inside, or triggers my boxes without i say so. (some retard triggered my carto box once, and i typed ""WAIT" three fckin times.) Then i quit. It's no different than global-1/public parties. Solo play ftw :) Last edited by mindrust8#0846 on Apr 10, 2015, 6:51:16 AM

I've done a ton of sharing & joining others in 1.2, didn't play much in 1.3 and now in the 1-months I've again used 820 extensively (mostly for sharing my encounters).
Yes, it has been infested by selling / buying. The biggest new surprise for me was asking for tips. I find this practice a really lowlife attempt of trying to get money out of your "sharing". Either sell your encounters on appropriate channels or share it for free in 820, without expecting anything in return. Asking tips is a disgusting practice, imo. An attempt to earn currency, disguised as charity. E: there was even a ridiculous instance when someone was asking for "tips 3c", lol :) When night falls She cloaks the world In impenetrable darkness Last edited by morbo#1824 on Apr 10, 2015, 6:59:24 AM

Nicely written OP, but I'm afraid that most of those potatoes who come in spamming their "LF" and "WTB" won't ever visit this thread, and will remain clueless (and on many ignore lists). You just can't fix stupid.
The more you depend on forces outside yourself, the more you are dominated by them.

Does there happen to be a sticky somewhere with a list of all the specific channels?
