Or there's just a lot more uniques to dilute the unique pool. The drop system works by first determining that a unique will drop and then picking which one. With more uniques getting one particular one is less likely.

Source? I have seen conflicting statements about this and I want some developer to come out and clear this mystery.

Does the game first choose that a unique must drop, then choose the base item type afterwards, or does it choose the base item type first, then decide on the quality?

Patch before this introduced something unintended. Unique maps are dropping in non-map areas at higher base lvl than 66.

This would determine that unique is rolled first, then it picks the unique, as if the map had rolled first 67, 68 and 69 maps would have been excluded.

Also, it's fair to say a lot more redbeaks drop in high areas than white rusted swords compared to a unique to white ratio of an item from that ilvl area.

If rusted sword needed to be chosen, then rolled on rarity, we would be swamped in white rusted swords, if you think about it.
Casually casual.

The wiki page for the claw doesn't list the correct damage scaling roll distribution at the moment.
<Tyrfalger> Exactly, the next act is going outside Sarn and into those wheat fields (see the map) to become a farmer. Then we can spend our days endlessly farming. Wait a minute...

soooooo slowwwww. maybe other people are like me and refuse to play poe until the game becomes interesting again...
No doubt less people playing. we need to stop making up excuses, it can be seen in forum post activities, sales in chat rooms and from personal experiences 5 friends on my friends list "quit" to move on to other newer mmo's (Neverwinter for example) I still like this game so im staying but theres no doubt about it that it was more fun a few months ago...

This kind of fluctuation is common for an open beta product these days, usually because people go into it completely ignoring the fact that it is an open beta. I don't think it's anything to worry about at all. Considering the amount of growth the game saw with little to no advertising, I'm sure once 1.0 goes live and they begin advertising, the game will swell again.

Regardless, let's keep this on topic :)

The old that is strong does not wither, deep roots are not reached by the frost.
