Lightning Scorpion Pet Looks Cool, But...

I'm laughing at the people who are acting like the $5 pet is "worth" it anymore than the $90 pet.

They are both useless digital vanity items that have no effect on gameplay. $5 could feed some homeless kid. That $5 to him, is how you look at the $90.

so yeah, the pet isnt worth $90 anymore than its worth $5. Price in no way reflect value.

Patience, my friend. We have a 10 year development plan ahead of us... perhaps these critters will be killable somewhere along the way. ;)

I loled hard. No way can you be this delusional, no way will they keep this going for 10 years.

They would make a sequel by then/ move onto a new game/ dissolve.

The whole point to a sequel is to get more sales. How would they benefit in any way by making a sequel to a free game? They will just update this game. It's cheaper and easier for them, and doesn't risk losing existing users.

And it's cute that you think 10 years is a long time.

Its already been said that they plan to support the game for 10 years.
GGG can charge as much as they want for an in game pet. No one is forcing you to blow 900 coins on it. Even though I don't plan to buy it, I hope many people do. Anything to keep this game going strong. Hey rich people - buy the scorpion!!!

The word to use is 'support'.

I don't really care for pets but I have the GGGold from my....support, so why not?

The scorpion could be twice as big, fart thunderclouds and randomly sing Thunderstruck by ACDC and it still wouldn't be worth 90 bucks.

Because it would still be a digital item with no tangible value.

It is useless.

Like most symbols, whatever power it has is conferred by what it represents.

If they made a scorpion that did that I would buy one without question. A scorpion with some lightning graphics added to it? Not so much. But its not targeted at me. Its targeted for people who dont expect more for thier money. Which is fine by me. They have weapon skins, premium tabs and skill skins for thoes of us who still want to support the game but arent so wealthy.

I seriously doubt they did this because they have money issues.

It has nothing to do with money issues. It's about trying to make a good game. It's pretty simple. More money means hiring more people which means being able to provide us with more and better content.

"
They did this because they can and people pay a ridiculous amount of money for something that really should not be sold for such a high price.

This is your opinion. Why should you be the one to decide what things should or shouldn't be sold for? Shouldn't that be up to the people who actually buy the scorpions?

"
The microtransaction store is not setup for you to donate to the team. Why people think this is true is beyond me. If people really want to "donate" that much, then something more than a re-skinned pet can and should be offered.

And how do you know what the store is or isn't set up for? If I buy something from the store, I do it because I want to support the game. Are you saying I'm doing something wrong?

If I spend money to support the GAME, I don't want GGG to spend my money developing some super fancy pet for me to use. I want them to use it to develop more actual game content for me (and anyone else playing the game for free) to enjoy.

"
People seem to think its ok for this to be sold for so high and tout "dont buy it if you find it too expensive, they need funding, consider it a donation, its worth it to someone, etc" Its actually a bad habit for a company to start charging an obnoxious price for such things. I would rather see prices that are within certain reasonable price ranges. Sure, have things that are higher prices with better skins, but dont go so overboard that you're charging $90 for it. Just because they can charge a high price, doesn't necessarily mean they should.

And what about the people who WANT to support the game with large amounts of money? Don't you think they deserve to get some special token no one else gets? Should they just buy 20 cheap pets even though they can only use one of them at a time, just because you think it's not ok for GGG to charge $90 for a pet?

In closed beta, over 150 people donated $1000 to the progress of the game, out of their own free will. Obviously there are plenty of people willing to do this. Who are you to dictate what they can or can't do?

"
As everyone has told me several times now, its all subjective to what you think its worth. Sure, if you don't think its worth it then you don't buy it. That logic alone, however, does not justify it being that price in the first place.

Shrug.

As everyone has told you several times now, it has nothing to do with "worth".

90 Dollars? Really? For THAT? In my opinion It's not amazing enough to warrant a 90 dollar price tag. Maybe you guys should buff it a little, to make it a bit more epic to warrant it's insane cost? Maybe like leaving a lightning trail wherever it walks, or possibly stabbing dead bodies causing them to pulse with electricity.

I know I'll get all of the "YEAH BUT YOU DON'T HAVE TO BUY IT" posts, but that's okay. What do you guys think? :]

I view the micro-transactions as donations to the company. You are donating 90$ to GGG, helping them support the game and make new content. The pet is a cute little token of appreciation.

this is a strange use of the word "donation"....this isnt' donation...that's why it is called SHOP (and not Saint Peter's poe church)

it isnt' so cool to warrant 90 bucks.....but ok...not my shop
When you judge another, you do not define them, you define yourself

seriously...we arent' dictating nothing we just say that 90 buck for this pet is pricey nothing more nothing less...

what are you forum police? you come here and insult anyone who tell something "bad" to GGG?

How doesn't logic justify it? Something that is complete optional, it's worth is subjective and so is "a reasonable price range". You just sound like one of those stereotypical working class people that whine about anyone with money and say shit like "but paying $500 for champagne is for retards" and other similar shit.
