How to improve races in general

this idea defeats the concept of competition and racing itself (at least short term racing - something not greater than 1 week)

you are not really competing against other people and don't participate in the same environment as you would racing against competitors simultaneously in an event.

it's like participating in an 100 meter dash race and waiting for everyone to finish then you run the race by yourself. it's not the same thing, it lacks the competitive nature of setting pace, feeling the pace of the entire field, the added pressure that the dude next to you is pushing harder than you are. all these things can alter your mind set during the racing making it more dynamic and engaging experience.
