Reeks of vaporware, no new info for over 2 years lol. Also the question is how much depth it has, D3 looks (and is, from the pure gameplay perspective) also fun to play after all.
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.
I think the reason has mainly to do with game performance. Zooming out the camera or even narrowing the viewing angle, would result in more objects inside the camera frustum (viewing volume). Which would impact an already bad performance.

The cheapest / cheesiest way to optimize your 3D app, is to zoom your camera in as much as possible. This is especially doable in 3rd-person isometrically locked games.

As you can see, the Path of Exile camera is way way too steep (not talking about zoom).

I would come back and play this in a heartbeat and I know many people that would as well.

Please GGG, sort it out and you will have mine and other peoples monies and everyone will be happy!
(you could even offer an option to up or down the pitch and keep the same level of zoom if you are concerned about it).

What's funny about this is that there already is an option to change the pitch and yet you dismiss it right away. You see, if you take a look at Diablo 3's screen, you'll also notice that the char is a bit bigger than the one in PoE's screenshot. Now, if you go in to the game, enable zoom and zoom the screen in just one "notch", you'll have practically the same pitch and character height as in Diablo 3, Torchlight 2 and Marvel Heroes. What's even better is that after adjusting the zoom to your liking, you can "lock" it in place by disabling zoom in the UI settings and it will stay like that forever afaik. See, everyone can be happy even now :)

Yes, I did that and the pitch LOWERS as you ZOOM IN. I have noticed that a long time ago...

But that is not the problem here, you will have the right pitch and then your character will be so close you can almost see hair coming out of its nostrils...

What I mean is to keep zoom levels as they work now, but the pitch to be lowered in all zoom levels and not just when you zoom in.

For example, this crude picture I did explains that this was never a problem of the game being too zoomed in or not (which I still think it is a bit, but I can handle that), rather it is a problem of the viewing angle pitch.

See this picture here:

As you can see I draw a circle around the center of the character to show that the zoom levels would not change, rather the angle of the pitch would change.

In other words, your zoom level is one thing, the pitch level is another.

And most people are flaming me on the thread because they do not know this difference and I hope that picture could clarify things a bit.

Actually it is not vaporware, they entered closed beta last month. :)

Check it out, details at the post there (Korean closed beta):

IMO, the camera angle when zoomed all the way out is close to ideal for playing a ranged character. A lower camera angle would narrow the view of foreground objects and make them more difficult to target. Zooming out even farther would turn the battlefield into an ant farm crawling with tiny sprites.

When playing melee characters, however, I prefer to zoom in about halfway, lowering the camera angle and enlarging the monsters' hit boxes. That also gives me a detailed view of the monsters' movements, which allows me to better anticipate their tactics. It is definitely a more challenging way to play, however, as your view of the battlefield is likewise restricted to that of a melee fighter.
Game should have more options:

- Slight FOV adjustment (fish eye zoom in/out).

- Vertical angle slightly higher/lower (cam tilt).

- Horizontal flip, the game is 3-D and we've seen the camera swing around chars in the mtx preview videos.
