difference greater/lesser multiple projectiles

hi, I have been searching for a while (maybe I'm bad at searching) but I can't find why is greater multiples much better than lesser multiple projectile? The only difference I found is than greater has a wider minimum angle than lesser. can someone explain to me why is greater so wanted?

A bit of light math:
LMP:
3*70 = total damage increased by 210% if all projectiles hit
increase again by 1.45 with max level 20% quality gem = 283% total damage increase


GMP:
5*50 = total damage increased by 250% if all projectiles hit
increase again by 1.39 with max level 20% quality gem = 347% total damage increase


GMP does slightly more total damage at all levels (19% more damage at level 1, 23% more damage at max level with max quality)

GMP has slightly higher mana cost (20% higher at all levels)

GMP has a wider minimum spread, so it's harder to use


It's just a matter of preference. Kripparian uses LMP in his sick wand templar build, I'm sure he can afford GMP if he wanted to. I imagine the price difference is just because GMP is much rarer.
