Split arrow vs multiple projectiles

well mana potions that recharge on crit are usefull i guess xD
My Mult Proj gem just leveled so I now get 3 extra progectiles with double strike, and it increased the mana cost from 8 to 14 causing me to go from minimal mana management difficulties to serious issues instantly.

Also it spreads them out like split arrow now, which appears to cause them to miss more often...previously double strike+mult proj sent a fairly focused grouping of arrows out, now they go all over the damn place.

Thanks for making the chart, that's pretty interesting. What does AFire stand for?

Also, it sounds as though you can have more accuracy with split arrow, with them being more "focused", at a cost of lower damage output than multiple projectiles. Frenzy + Multiple projectiles seems to be the way to go though.

The frenzy skill itself gets a bonus for the charges you have on. So if you have 6 Frenzy Orbs, every frenzy attack will get 6*(X% IAS).
Yeah that hit me when I was laying in bed last night D'oh!

Added Fire Damage, you require strength to use it so ranger's may be excluded from the higher levels of that gem.

I had made that chart because I had read in global chat that 'split arrow is useless' 'just use multi projectiles' 'double strike + mps the way to go' etc and I wanted to see the advantages myself. Sure you can get a higher damage output quicker with it, at the expense of a larger mana cost.

I didn't include Pierce someone had mentioned earlier or Explosive Arrow in that because there's a number of factors involved, getting split or MP to hit all targets to begin with is already best case scenario

I don't crit for nuttin' (5% base?). I've got the crit = Endurance Charge and that rarely goes off, I find the afflicted with status effect = Endurance Charge much better just as a side note

the skill calc shows me 4 of +Crit rating% in the Int tree, 1 in the dex tree, no +crit rating in the dex tree, 2 +crit rating% for bows in the dex tree. How high could your crit% be?
