[3.10] Sovyn's Lazy Pally - Tanky Templar with Max Block
" Welcome! Yes, this build is perfect for the casual gamer to enjoy the game with in my opinion. It's powerful enough for some serious gaming too. A nice balance. Still considering the various options for 11.2 builds. :) We gained some nice possibilities in the ranger area which got me to thinking. |

Just trying to get my head around something, if you have max block with anvil 78% and you can block projectile attacks then what is the point in using evasion and ondars guile, wouldn't that decrease your tempest shield dps at a slight increase of damage reduction, sure you can evade spell projectiles but with rainbow strides and the amulet you can have roughly 75% spell block.
Also with the amount of strength you have I suggest linking tempest shield with iron will at no extra cost because it is roughly 90% more damage for it, also linking mana leech at no extra cost will help with your mana regen issue. More food for thought is adding elemental proliferation to the link for a 4 link of tempest shield, reduced mana, elemental proliferation, iron will, with max reduced mana Q20 two reduced reserved mana points in the tree and swapping an alphas howl out you can get it to 21% reserved mana. " Thanks for posting! Those all sound like good suggestions. I'm trying to keep the build open to those that play self found or casual and will never see the good uniques. I have thought of a few of those ideas, but I have no way to implement them on my own character at present. :) Except maybe the iron will. I've stuck elemental proliferation on there in the past but it does reserve a little bit more mana and there is little difference. I'm trying to save my mana to cram hatred on there. I'm really close. That will be my 6th aura. Alpha's howl is nice but I'd take The Bringer of Rain way before that. :) |

Here is the tentative "official" 11.2 build.
I experimented with a dozen different designs. They all had their pros and cons. I ended up with something pretty similar to what I had pre-patch. Link to build +362 to Strength +204 to Dexterity +112 to Intelligence 50% increased Melee Physical Damage 76% increased Physical Damage with One Handed Melee Weapons 16% increased Elemental Damage with Weapons +2 to Melee Weapon and Unarmed range 27% increased Attack Speed 3% increased Attack Speed with One Handed Melee Weapons Your hits can't be Evaded Never deal Critical Strikes 224% increased maximum Life +60 to maximum life 5.4% of Life Regenerated per Second 2% of Physical Attack Damage Leeched back as Life 10% reduced Mana Reserved (new) 8% increased maximum Mana 30% additional Shield Block Chance 4% additional Block Chance while Dual Wielding or holding a Shield 120% increased Defences from equipped Shield 12% of Block Chance applied to Spells 40% increased Block Recovery +20% Elemental Resistances while holding a Shield +24% to all Elemental Resistances You take 30% reduced Extra Damage from Critical Strikes 52% increased Armour 32% increased Evasion Rating and Armour Ignore all Movement Penalties from Armour Doubles chance to Evade Projectile Attacks Discuss your thoughts before I update the guide. :) |

pretty strong improvement if u ask me.
All your stats get a boost and weapon artistry grants a lot more DPS (30%) Your hp pool doesnt suffer (-12 life, +6% increased life, +40 strength). You lose 10% shield defence but we want to block and dodge anyway, not? The only problem I see is that you lose early block nodes if you dont take bulwarks. The block nodes from the weapon artistry area is far away from your starting point so you may have only 60-65% block chance until you are around lvl 70. Solution would be to grab early bulwark and refund out later? edit: I forgot to mention the 10% reduced Mana Reserved. seems to be strong but is it still usefull endgame? I am new to game but I read that a lot of you dont have any mana issues after manaleech items or leveled gems. Last edited by Dooobs#7947 on Jul 18, 2013, 9:30:58 AM

" Same thoughts here. My fork follow the bottom path when you're approaching to the duelist area. Instead of going the upper path and take the Reduced Mana Reserved, I go bottom and pull some block nodes. That way your block chances can progress as you level up. I'd prefer to think on a 90 points build instead of 120. Of course, the big picture gives you ideas, and you can tweak it regarding your preferences. IGN: Pintxo (Harbinger)

Hello,
First thank you very much for this newbie friendly guide. Iam a veteran diablo 1-3 player, but in poe iam absolutly new. Iam very impressed by the possibilities here. But at my experience lvl this is also the biggest problem. ;) Ive tried to build my templar like you explained. It works but sometimes i die a lot. Can you take a look? Do i make any big mistake? Skills used: Infernal blow for area DMG Heavy strike for single DPS Tempest shield as aura (Wrath inactive because not enough mana with it) Other skillgems equipt will be not used. Only equipt because oft testing. Passives - click Equipe:
Spoiler
Thanks for taking a look :) Last edited by shAd122#5760 on Jul 18, 2013, 10:56:33 AM

" I can fit Tempest Shield / Determination / Purity / Hatred on my mana globe now, but that leaves exactly 10 mana left. That's with level 16/17 reduced mana gems. Leveling the reduced mana gems up further would help but that is very slow and won't happen until after the mid 70s. As you know, quality on reduced mana gems won't work on auras. The 10% reduced reserved mana from the passive tree would let me put hatred on easily and have enough mana left over to use my attack skill (with mana leech). Leveled up hatred is a big dps boost. The reduced reserved would also let me keep some life as I stack Grace and Wrath and maybe even Anger in the future on my life with blood magic support. That's my reasoning. |

" Thanks for your comments! I was firm about using the lower fork for a long time. I chose the upper fork because it did not cost any more points now that I am taking the reduced mana reserved nodes. As to your other comment, I'll follow up with a build following the above tentative build with the smallest number of points that maxes out block. We will then see if it's worse than the guide build in that regard. |

Yeah we knowed you want Reduced Mana to pop up another aura, you're aura addicted. ;p
But I still think the bottom path is more useful in most situations. one point less invested, no need to go through the armour nodes if you don't want, you can pull some block nodes to replace Bulwark.. IGN: Pintxo (Harbinger)
