Enjoying the build in end act 5 and no problems.

I see no mention of flasks. Or rather you mention them in a way that it seems more exerienced players know what you're talking about.

Im talking early end-game / or end-game...what flasks are optimial for this build, what typs?

Thank you from a (kind of) new player to PoE!

Hi,
is it possible to kill the shaper with this build?
cheers
I am playing this awesome build in Harbinger HC and I would like if someone could share with me an alternative "HC Specific" skill tree.

Bonus Points if there can be multiple for leveling purposes? Say 50 points, 75, 100?

I've perused multiple pages and failed at finding any that are more survival oriented.

Thanks!

Hello guys. How much life leech is recommended when running this build, and from which items or jewels do you prefer to get that stat from?
I have atm 0.75 of physical damage leeched as life and do not feel it's sufficient when fighting bosses in high tier maps (15-16). Big groups of monsters are another story though.
Hi guys which herald aura do you run?

I don't know which link I should choose between these ones:

Hatred + IceHerald/CurseOnHit/EleWeakness
Link [herald of thunder] to [curse on hit][assassin's mark] and [innvervate]

@Neversink: Are they still up to date? Because u are also suggesting this one "Hatred + IceHerald/CurseOnHit/EleWeakness"

Atm I'm using this setup:

Thank you guys!

Alright, I'm seeing a lot of questions in this thread and figured I'd try to answer them through my experiences in this league. I wasn't interested in any of the current meta builds so I just played this from start to finish in Harbinger. I farmed all the gear using only this character.

I made some small changes to the build many, many times along the way based on what my character was looking like in various points of the league, but for the most part, the passive tree in the original post applies.

Does it still work? Yes.
Can it kill shaper/guardians/whatever? Yes.
Does it clear (reasonably) fast? Yes.
Does it need quite a bit of currency to perform at a high level? Yes.
Is it one of the best builds out there atm? Absolutely not. Just go Doomfletch if you want a meta archer for example.

That said, I've had no issues whatsoever with the build this league. It still works as a league starter but expect meta builds to leave you in their dust in terms of clearing endgame content. While you're stuck farming red maps with your 5link, gathering currency for the first 6link, there are builds out there already farming Shaper and Uber Atziri. As such, you won't get to take advantage of farming endgame bosses early, but 5link lioneye's glare was more than enough to let me farm t11-15 maps at a reasonable speed a few days into the league. Of course, someone more experienced than me might perform far better with less gear, but I feel like I did alright.

I've cleared ALL content except Uber Atziri just fine using only 6link TS. Just the TS DPS is more than sufficient for Shaper as well, but expect the fight to take more than 5 seconds. The only problem with Atziri is that TS will get you killed into the reflect, so you'll need a barrage weapon switch or just another skill in your main weapon.

I'll give some more specific tips in a separate post.

Some more specific tips on this character archetype.

Blink Arrow

This is not just a movement skill. It's a 2nd decoy totem for you. Learn to make use of it and you'll find yourself dying far, far less.

When engaging packs of monsters, if you find them closing in on you before your TS kills them, just blink backwards and keep firing. They'll most likely be dead before they come for you again.

Same thing goes for bosses. It's your second line of defense after your decoy totem dies, and it lets you buy time to resummon it if you feel like you need to. Not everything can be facetanked, especially when you're still just starting out in maps.

That said, it takes a moment to cast (and register server-side). Don't get too cocky with it. Sometimes it's better to run to make sure you actually get out of the way of an attack before it hits. I've died to Shaper's slam after blinking elsewhere because I got hit before it actually registered server-side.

Decoy totem

Run this thing if you're not ridiculously geared. Just run it. It's amazing. I personally still run it even at my current gear level because it has its uses.

You'll have 191 strength for Kaom's anyway, and thus your totem will be useful even without any supporting gems.

While Neversink says it's too slow for the endgame, it'll downright carry you through red maps and the guardians at first. You have to spend some time resummoning it, but it'll help immensely by tanking the three-hit Chimera combo, or by making Minotaur turn around on his heels to go the other way. Don't even mention normal map bosses. The more experienced you are, however, the less useful it may feel.

Even at higher gear levels, it has many uses. For example, I use it to tank the Shaper adds going after Zana. While the totem keeps Zana alive and fine, I run around popping the ground AoE spheres in preparation for the next Danmaku phase.

Life leech/mana leech?

Lioneye's Fall is the answer to all of your leech problems ever. Plop it into the socket near Acrobatics and get the claw nodes up until Soul Raker. That's 1,2% life leech AND 0,8% mana leech. Plus, of course, a stupid amount of damage.

But that's not cheap.

Early in the league, I personally unspecced the 0,4% mana leech point and spent 2 points on 0,4% life leech near vitality void, taking the 0,4% ml/0,4% ll hybrid note instead of vitality void. That way you spend 2 points for an extra 1,2% leech, which coupled with 0,4% leech from blood drinker gets you to a solid 1,6%.

This was more than enough, without a huge investment.

Herald + Curse

Ice if you have decent crit chance. Lightning if you don't have much crit yet. Depending on your gem setup, compliment them with gems like innervate, if you have space.

Projectile weakness or elemental weakness provide a direct damage boost against the cursed target, while assassin's mark gets you more crit through power charges. Generally speaking, power charges are unlikely to be the better option UNLESS you are running Acuities already. With Acuities, you'll want to make sure you have a high crit chance to guarantee leech without VP.

My other gem links

Really just up to you but here's what I personally quite like.

- CWDT + Golem is a must so you don't waste your time resummoning it. It's always up.
- Vaal Haste + Decoy Totem + Increased Duration is a good combination.
- Blink Arrow + Faster Attacks
- Hatred (slotted with curse herald)

Misc. gearing

One thing not discussed in the original posts is Lioneye's Fall.

This jewel, through passives, will give you:
- 60% critical strike chance with bows
- 45% critical strike multiplier with bows
- 1,2% life leech
- 0,8% mana leech
- 20% physical damage with bows
Get the claw nodes north of the jewel socket and it'll not only solve you leech problems, but also give you great crit bonuses.

- Of course, you're free to drop VP if you get yourself a pair of Acuities. My tree shows how that could go.

- If you run The Taming, you'll want to not run elemental focus because of the ailment bonuses. Run a crit multi gem instead.

- Kaom's is a huge life boost so just get a 6link bow and use it so that you can sacrifice life on other slots for more DPS. However, while still gearing up, it may be a good idea to just get a cheap 5 or 6 link armor so you can keep using different bows until you finally get a good 5 or 6link one.

This post currently has 982 reply pages, so if this already has been answered, I'm sorry.

I like this build, currently at level 57. Switching to using Blast Rain, and in the drawing for the gem links the second gem is CONC (in green). There is no green "concentrated effect" so I thought maybe "cast on crit", but that makes no sense, since there is no skill to trigger in the setup.

Please enlighten me, what is that green CONC you speak of?

Thanks for the guide anyways. Very nice.

Hello there,

I've recently revived an old lvl 84 ranger with this guide. She first was wearing deerstalkers for generating frenzy charges. I couldn't find a good method in this guide for generating frenzy charges, or am i missing something?

-blood rage drains hp, while vaal pact removes regeneration to compensate, so this one is annoying to say the least

couldn't find any other means. Can someone help me out? thanks in advance

edit: nevermind, hadn't checked the ascendancy class
-Something in the way
