I'm not sure if increased duration works on burning.
A quality chance to ignite might work.

Mmmm, don't know - the ignite on HoA has a fixed amount of damage - but I'll test both

increased duration does nothing to status effects...
Tested both IncrDuration and quality Chanche to Ignite, both don't work :(

Waiting for my Empower to get Lvl 2, I guess...

the quality should've worked, but its too small to notice right away
4 * 1.07 = 4.28
If i have little to no damage mods but go pure crit, is HoA still going to proc burn? I'm looking to make a cast of crit build and I need herald of ash to work properly for my build.

It didn't show on yhe tooltip nor in the skill description, and I couldn't really tell the difference when using HoA with and without it, but you may be right, 7% is too small a difference to notice...

if you overkill, then you provide burning to nearby foes (based on extra damage). thats what HoA does.

well... from my understanding the support gem would go to HoA's links as its doing the burning. vs like putting weapon elemental on the attack skill so that the 15% extra fire works more.

Increased duration works for SKILL effect, not status effects.

And if a non-quality gem offers nothing to support a skill (in your case, chance to ignite offers nothing to HoA, because HoA deals no fire damage to produce ignite), then this support gem cannot support this skill. Even if a quality version of support gem an offer something useful, it cant support a skill that cant be supported by non-quality version.

HoA works with:

Ele prolif
Increased burning damage
AOE

in that order. AoE gem makes sense only when build uses AoE as the base is very small.
