Wouldn't it just be mana and regen gear? Especially the regen I'd think would be very important, which is why I placed a priority on those nodes.

Yes, however getting gear with damage or def and mana regen is quite tricky. It requires luck or it requires currency.

Mana regen nodes CAN be traps. However, once you get a few levels into clarity, the regen nodes help a ton. Prior to clarity, it is quite risky.

For ex. You have a base mana regen of 3. 40% only adds 1.2 mana.
You have a base mana regen of 3 and clarity (giving 7 mana (random numbers)). 40% adds
4 mana regen.

Which doesnt seem like much, but when your spells cost 7-11 mana, it's amazing.

Anyone manage to get their hands on a Shavronne's Wrapping?

Would love to hear if its worth it. Being able to run blood magic on % auras, and not needing to worry about chaos sounds very, very sexy. And to top it off, pain attunement would work :P.

And does anyone know the rough price for these yet? I'd imagine it's high at the moment.

Bidding starts at 25 exalts. Right now it is something for the rich and famous. Heard the Queen of England and some russian billionaires got one.
The thing is completely imba. It has to be nerfed.

EDIT:
Writing a guide for the advanced spellcasters would be pretty short:
1) get Shavronne's Mapping
2) avoid CI
3) link blood magic skill to your auras and get pain attunement
4) get Zealots Oath and life regeneration from the templar side.
5) run righteous fire.
6) welcome to god mode
end of guide.

Passives that I am against:

-Body and Soul – The 20% ES is AMAZING, but in most cases it is too far out of your main path to be worth it. For the 5 passives that it takes to get to it (giving a total of 28% ES), I can use those 5 to get 32% ES by going for the nodes in the centre of the tree. Don't fool yourself about the 20% armor increase, it will not help you too much, unless you are plan on relying heavily on granite flasks. Like Bloodthirst only take them if you already pass by them, do not go out of your way for these.

Your math is wrong here, imho.

5 points body and soul i get: 10 int, 20 str, 28% es, 28% arm, 10% allres

5 points into the middle of the tree: 20 int, 24% es (1.-3. of the middle es nodes)

If you calculate the stat nodes for linking body and soul, you should do so for es in the middle, too.

Those 2 points putting in 40% mana reg is no reason to let that be the main path of the tree.

I easily could exchange those 2 points in mana reg and the last 2 points in middle es for 4 points 20 mana reg, 38% mana at the witch start.

Something like that:

And you still could exchange mana nodes with 2 more es/arm nodes or 3% reduced mana cost or anything.

b)Am I willing to spend more for gear with life leech?

Which gear can leech life while using spells? All gear i know is using physical attacks to leech life.
Only way to leech life is due to support gems.

On the whole blood rage issue, I gotta say I'm finding it a lot less useful now that I'm doing maps. Perhaps once I am geared better and have better survivability I can worry about it more, but right now I'm not necessarily running through enemies at such a pace that I can continually sustain it. Having to keep casting it is actually becoming a nuisance at this point. For those using it and advocating going for more frenzy charges, what level are you right now and how are things going if you're in end game?
question;

I have both LMP as well as GMP.. Which one do I pick? GMP on IceSpear & LMP on FP ?

Never thought about that, thanks, makes Body and soul more worth while now. I'll look into changing the build when I have time.

I wrote that part of the guide when I had no idea how to stats actually worked on weapons. This page was designed not only for the reader to get better, but myself. Figured the best way to learn is to teach.

It depends. GMP will give you more damage to groups, LMP gives more damage to single targets.

I run GMP on FP and LMP on my ice spear totem.

I´ve been fiddling around with this alot, and still often carry around an extra LMP/GMP to be able to switch. I use Ice Spear-Elemental Profiliration-LMP, and my finding is that this offer both excellent crowd control (everything gets frozen) while still providing enough single target damage. Especially on bigger mobs and bosses, where you often can get all three projectiles to hit if you have some space, or place the mouse pointer behind the mob.

Width GMP I find the spread of the spears to be too wide, and it´s not really necessary since Elemental Profiliration takes care of the freezing of pretty much the whole pack anyway.

I might need to change this strategy later, (running 66/67 maps now) but so far it´s working good and feels pretty efficient and safe.

Awesome thread. Been following the base build ever since I made my FP witch, and it's been wondrous. My current build is as follows:

Thinking about respeccing the whole cluster of 5x +8% ES nodes between the witch start and the tree's center and getting the points starting at the left side instead, which would give me 1 point more to spend (probably on ES cooldown recovery %)
