Being a hybrid of STR and DEX, the duelist should be "able" to take a hit, but should not stand toe to toe like Marauder can. Speed and mobility should be a key. Also, what about duel wield with a long blade and a buckler (allowing the buckler to be used defensively and offensively). Anyway, don't see the Duelist allowing himself to get outflanked and wind up in the middle of a mob.

I hope the duelist is agile and controller with two swords simultaneously skil strength and agility, not leave him with shield and sword this is something q Templar, but only one or two swords. With skil melee battle with one large area to grab enemies and many others just focus on one over with great force of impact (damage), passive abilities to deixalo faster in their attacks and movement. Summarizing the Duelist should look like a Samurai Fast and deadly .....

I think this class will be balanced with good damage output as well as a good dodge rating.
Hopefully with some kind of healing skill or good regeneration. //Taurus1979

I'm not entirely sure what to expect aside from what's advertised, but I can tell you what I'd like the class to be.
For starters, I don't think it should or shouldn't be a tank oriented class since this is a hack 'n slash and every class is meant to decimate its foes when played properly. However, I do believe the Duelist will excel at being light on its feet in switching from a robust character (strength) to a clever, diligent character (dexterity) at any given notice. It all depends on what armor the Duelist wears (prime stats); as well as which weapon (heavier for raw power or dual wielding for quick, decisive attacks). So really, what I expect is for the Duelist to be the most versatile of all physical damage dealers: Ranging from a raw powerhouse to a tactical assassin. Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.

So, how do you guys think, who will be better with shield - Duelist or Templar?

" in description of Duelist are some words about shield , but said he feels better with 2H or dual weapons , as for Templar its STR-INT character . like cleric , or paladin from D2. & as for me , i expect big 2h sword , nice animation skills =) Last edited by mistknight#4013 on Aug 10, 2011, 7:27:59 AM

Duelist will propably be my first class of choice. I except swift movement, good dps and a good balance for the choice of using 2h or dualwield.
You wanna peace of meat, boi?

I am utterly overjoyed that there is a duelist themed character in PoE! I'm hoping for a strategic fighter, focusing on positioning, multiple weapon proficiencies (I don't mean multiple at the same time per say, but can switch between longsword, sidesword and shield and two sideswords,) and the ability to dodge, parry or otherwise avoid damage instead of having enough health to just "tank" the blows.
