Atziri Run Profits

Hi everyone. I've been getting bored with the game lately, so I've been farming City of Sarn (20 Midnights so far).
I was wondering what would be more profitable on Standard: running Atziri myself or selling the Midnight fragments. I don't plan on being able to do Uber, so I would be selling the uber fragments (all of them seem fairly worthless except for Hope). My goal in the end is to buy a Soul Taker, unless the mana changes in 1.2 are significant.
Any help is appreciated!
Running the sets yourself, and selling everything you find, has higher expected value than selling the sets. However, this assumes that you don't get unlucky with Mortal Hope drops.

My experience is that Mortal Hope is about a 1/30 drop, and they sell for 30ex or so. Not to mention the Belts and Sceptres, along with the random drops, and you also get crap loads of gem XP.

Sets sell for around 3:2ex I think, so selling 30 sets would only net you 20ex.

But if you run all 30 and no Hopes drop (which is not all that unlikely, I've had a streak of 50+ runs with no Hope) then you're better off selling, so it's a matter of your risk tolerance.
Only if you chain them 50+ at a time.

If you only do a few sets a time, RNG can go either way.

As long as you don't get the flask (or poor rolled boots) from atziri, the value of the other unique drops is generally greater than the value of the shards.

As long as you can clear fairly safely, I would do the runs myself.

Anyone else have an idea about the Hope drop rate? I'm thinking about just farming 70 Midnights, running 10 of them, and selling the rest 3:2 ex.
Hopes are more like 1:40. With unique drops it still works as a profit.

Another method to increase midnight farming speed is to buy non midnight shards for 3:1 chaos. You will get more than 1 chaos of drops in those 3 corrupted zones and will have a 3/20 chance to get another midnight, without any time wasted running through zones.

its all rng, u can get as lucky as me and get a hope at the second run, then u get another one ~30 then one @ run 90 and 111 , and since then (88 runs later) no damn thing, no scepter no hope, calculate how much ex the 88 runs are ;) i would sell the sets, its 100 % income , maybe just my opinion but yeah , rng is rng, i bet u can get 5 hopes in a row or on the other hand u need like 111 runs as my friend to find the first hope ...

gl whatever u decide to do

I have no idea about the prices in Standard, but once I started farming Atziri in Ambush I started to make a lot more currency than I did running maps. I'd say the mortal fragments and uniques were about equal average value, each of them just about paying for the midnights on average.

If you run all the refunds you get, you have a 1 in 11 chance to end up with a Midnight for each Dawn (or whatever else) you start with, and a 10 in 11 chance to end up with a skillgem. (Based on 50% chance at a skillgem, 50% sacrifice fragment, and the 4:3:2:1 ratio of dawn/dusk/noon/midnight).

Each corrupt zone you run gets you 0.5 gems, 0.05 Midnights and 0.45 refunds. Run all your refunds and that becomes 0.909 gems, 0.091 Midnights.

So if you can get 3 dawn/dusk/noon for 1c, that will get you an average of 0.273 Midnights assuming no failures in Vaal areas (and if you can do Atziri, you can do all the 66-68 Vaal areas), as well as 2.727 gems, which assuming they are all unsellable ones, it is a good step toward a Vaal recipe.

The 3/20 was the combined chance of getting a midnight over the course of the 3 zones, not over an unlimited amount of runs.
