Low-life has a cascading effect on the build. Low-life gives you a huge damage boost which allows you to mostly ignore damage properties on gear and run as much IIQ/IIR as possible. The damage boost also means that you can be reasonably effective with a 4L/5L and use the extra links for IIQ/IIR gems. And, then there's also the big IIR boost from Wondertrap Slippers which is just icing on the cake.

Those are the gems you want to focus on with Flame Totem > All. The base damage scaling on Flame Totem gem levels is your biggest boost in DPS output.

At the moment I have a flame totem level 17 quality 20%. How much difference is level 17 and level 20? Level 17 is 48-71 while Level 20 is 61-92. Is there a way to calculate how much on estimate this will provide in damage?

A rough estimate would be something along the lines of a ~28% increase in damage. You can ignore all the supports and modifiers because they act equally on all levels of the gem. All that really matters is the increase in base damage from level 17 -> 20.

Your average damage from the 17 gem is ~60 and your average damage from a 20 gem is ~77. That's a boost of 17 damage to the base of the spell which is a ~28% increase over your current ~60 damage.

Other then a chaos resist flask is there anything else to counteract chaos damage (not including getting resist on gear)? Sometimes my energy shield drains from full to 0. Not sure what kills me but I assume its chaos nature cause I get totally wrecked, like 4k ES to 0. I guess I could play safer but sometimes out of nowhere. Any idea what does that?

Which would you prioritize for this build: Fire Penetration or Faster Casting? It might be hard to roll another blue socket on my Solaris Lorica but I'm starting to think it might be worth it.

It's actually not that hard to roll off-colours on that armour due to the low stat requirements.

any tips on damage mitigation beyond ele res =\?

Hello, thanks graveintentions for the build, i have a fail witch and with the new patch i've managed to respec for something like you did.

I cant use rathpith globe on shield because with all auras my fire res was on 67%, so rise of the phoenix helps for overcap fire to 88% (helps against pietys miscreations)

#edit: i'm using LMP instead of GMP because of mana cost (cant cast totem with gmp and running the four purities on mana, a mana notable should take care of this situation.

2500 dps with LMP is really too low imho. I am not convinced by your passiv tree.
