Understanding True Summon Raging Spirit DPS

We already know how to compute peak summon raging spirit DPS, see my thread on SRS optimization. From that thread we know optimal setups:

Self cast: Spell Echo - MPD - Multistrike - Inc Dur - Empower L4> Minion Damage > Empower L3
Totem: MPD - Multistrike - Inc Dur - Minion Damage - Faster Attack
Auras: Hatred, Haste

A 5L Self cast gets:
DPS = 210499
NSpirit = 21.3609
Dmg = 2228
APS = 4.91443

A 5L 3-totem gets:
DPS = 189454
NSpirit = 26.5431
Dmg = 1452.38
APS = 4.91443

These values represent peak DPS, i.e. when all spirits that can be concurrently summoned (based on cast speed) are attacking the target (based on distance to target, and APS). The questions I want to answer are:
1. What DPS do we actually get when we factor movement speed into the picture?
2. Is the minion speed gem better than one of the other supports?
3. How much damage does quality on SRS give?
4. How much damage does the movement speed from Haste give?
5. Do we gain DPS when we factor in placing totems closer than self-casting and the time it takes to cast a totem?

The first challenge is measuring Raging Spirit movement speed. I wasn't able to find an answer, so I had to resort to measuring it. To do this I recorded video at 30FPS, and measured how long (in terms of frames) it takes the Raging Spirit to cover a certain amount of pixels.
Spoiler
After 0.5sec about 300 pix covered:

After 1.0sec about 500 pix covered:

From these images my conclusion is that a raging spirit travels at about 550 pix/sec in 1920x1080 resolution. This means that a target directly vertical to the character at the edge of the screen is reached in about 1.5sec.

Next I wrote a simulation that simulates attack a single target half a vertical screen away from the caster. (Matlab code). This takes into account movement speed. Here are result graphs using the 5L self-cast setup:

DPS with no haste MS bonus, no quality:

DPS with haste MS bonus, no quality:

DPS with haste MS bonus, quality SRS gem:

DPS with haste MS bonus, quality SRS gem, and Minion Speed support:

These pictures answer the first four questions I had. The results are fairly intuitive: movement speed is good to have, but not good enough to use as a support gem. To answer the last question we need to measure/find out how long it takes to place a totem. If it's less than one second, we may be in luck in terms of getting more DPS out of totems than self-cast.

Some things to notice: ramp-up time. This is the point in the pictures where the top-most red step becomes opaque. The more MS we have, the longer it takes to ramp up to our maximum DPS.

Interesting stuffs. I love skull spammer builds, though my setups are far from optimal since I play hardcore and don't trade. I'll be making another in the next 4 month, psyched for spell echo.
When I kill a man he stays dead.
And what´s the starting situation?

- a mob that stands still
- a chilled moving monster
- a "normal" moving monster
- fast moving monster
- haste aura rares

edit: this kinda reminds me on zergling: speed vs +1 attack lol
What can never be lent or earned?
Somewhat, that devours everyone and everything:
A tree that rush. A bird that sings. It eat bones and smite the hardest stones.
Masticate every sword. Shatters every shrine. It defeat mighty kings and carry mountains on lightly wings.
What am i?

Please forgive my potentially stupid question, but:

Since I cannot see SRS Dps ingame, (icon shows casts per second and cast speed mod) I cannot tell if skill points put into minion damage affect SRS. The blue text when mousing over the skill shows for me the exact same value ("Minions deal 48% more damage" and "Minions deal 32% increased damage") before and after I choose skill "Minion Damage - Minions deal 15% increased damage."

Could you confirm whether or not these skills will improve the DPS of SRS? The build I am following does not take these skill nodes.

Thank you for your time.

yes they work fine. or so we have been told. you just cannot get any visual feedback of it.
Thank you very much.

I noticed I necroposted afterwards, but I found thread via internet search... at least maybe this post will answer another's question.

Thanks very much. Let's hope for visual feedback soon.

no worries. that's just good forum etiquette.

raging spirits are minions so they benefit from all minion modifiers afaik. you can see which modifiers affect it by looking at the tags of the gem.
