Uber Atziri as a Melee

i am slowly preparing to try Uber Atziri with my 2-h HS marauder, but im on standard so i can use legacy kaoms for 11k life pool or so.

as for the adds, for normal Atziri fight, after some testings and experimentation i found out that heavy strike is much better than ground slam if used with proper support gems.

HS with 20/20 melee splash and 20% inreased AOE from the tree kills ALL adds before they reach Atziri and heal her. i just attack Atziri and the splash damage does the job. i have around 35k dps with blood magic gem in, since i need to run 3 auras (1 is PoF), and the mana pool is not sufficient to support using the skill.

As for Uber Atziri, I believe if i can cast vulnerability or temp chains on adds from time to time i could kill enough of them so that they dont overheal her and ill be able to slowly down her lifepool and kill her.

still, its just a theory, so far i only tested that i can kill all blue mobs in Alluring Abyss and survive. havent done any of three boss fights yet for which i used one of a very few low-life ST Uber Atziri kill service providers. :)

Advice: Spell Totem - Temp Chains. Btw, uber is a HUGE set up from normal. It's something more like 3x the HP I think.

Oh and melee can easily kill her if you have the same setup as low-life spectral I think, if you have >80k spectral then you can easily have ~250k Double Strike which imho is more than enough. I think there is no chance that vanilla Aegis Soul Taker builds can do it though.

Yeah I could see your problem OP: I too have been wondering if uber is doable with "normal" melee- a'ka no low-life/snapshot/ST etc. The trick that I can think of against the minion healing phase is a) temp chains with totem and inc area of effect and b) freeze mine with cold penetration, inc area of effect and elemental profliferation. B should be viable even if you dont have millions of points in crit since freeze mine always freezes enemies. The temp chains just complements the freeze duration and profliferation turns the minions that come up to atziri into beacons for the other packs. The biggest problem is that probably dont have that much time to kill the minions which means less flask charges and makes the fight increasingly difficult as you progress (no topaz or ruby flasks).
not sure if it works, never tested it, but one could theoretically corrupt one of the items to have implicit mod of +1 extra curse, then you could use totem with 2 curses: temp chains and vulnerability for the adds phase. that would make the fight much easier.

For melee if you can survive the challenge of the fight will be the heal phase. Temporal chains totem + more melee damage on full life & abyssus swap is what I use for this phase. Putting on Abyssus + melee danage on full life nearly doubles my cyclone DPS to 24/25k. This is barely enough for the heal phase, probably 1-2 will get through to heal. Aside from that, it's finding the right balance between spell block and normal block. I haven't tried it lately on my melee as Hope takes soo long to farm but I think it is doable. It just isn't ideal for melee.

still no love for just weaponswapping to detonate dead?
If obtaining these fragments weren't so hard and annoying, I would actually give it a try and see how I would do with these ideas.

Though some questions still linger:

1. Would 30-35k be enough damage to take down these adds? It's hard to gain more damage without sacrifice defensive nodes - Life and Block. Especially for one phase.
2. Do these adds actually have 3x more hit points? (As mentioned by Chundadragon)
3. Does a melee player have enough time with Temporal Chains to kill these adds if the two questions above are true?

I have tried out the weapon swap on my last fight with normal Atziri. The amount of time for the switch kind of works but I really didn't see much of a difference with 31k damage than my Soul Taker/Aegis combo at 25k. It seems like proper positioning and RNG have to be in your favour. They can't come out from 4 different directions. Melee splash is way too limited once you're able to hit an add. It's fine when they're much closer though but from the initial hit to the time they're absorbed, you'll have to find a way to pump out 2x more DPS.

I will give Temporal Chains a try with a Spell Totem or self cast once I figure out how to implement that in either a weapon swap or a gem swap without messing with my original setup. Changing colours just for one fight would end up to be too costly over time.

The adds have at least double if not triple, I highly doubt 25k is enough since you need at least ~35k spectral which equates to like 80k+ melee. I'm really not feeling like risking wasting a hope so I ain't gunna test it out, I also doubt you could sustain the damage during split phases, as immortal as Aegis builds are I don't think it can leech back 6k consecutive spear throws if your block fails.

The line above is basically why I started this thread in the first place. For one, to figure out if it really is possible as melee and two, to bring the attention that melee is fairly underpowered for this specific fight. As much as I dislike making a specific character for this, it may even come down to it if it's not possible.

Well, you may be surprised to learn that 80k melee is very reachable with a life-based build but there is gunna be no RT Soul Taker stuff, all gunna have to be crit dagger.

This guy is life-based, 270k Double Strike with a mirrored dagger, I'm sure you could achieve a quarter of that.
