I think its really viable for beyond just you must go more defensive instead of DPS, using more HP, Frostbite to freeze them permanently and etc. Will definetly make it viable there. Just you must maybe lower the faster projectile of FP to cover less area to dont spawn too much Beyond mobs.

I'm not using Cold at start because I was leveling as a Trapper then I easily respected some points into Freeze Pulse later on. I used this strategy before Forsaken Masters it was not impossible but hard to level up as Freeze Pulse before Freeze Pulse buff. I had not tried to play new freeze pulse leveling from 1 to high level so I cannot say. But do as you feel like doing, it's your character anyway, but anyway I'd still recommend Fire spells for leveling : Fire Trap , Flameblast, Searing Bond you name it. They are still one of the best leveling skills there still in my opinion.

Freeze Pulse Updated for 1.3!

I'm new to the FP, was about to try your build. but also never played CI. So i kinda decided to try FP with the CI or hybrid version with solaris lorica.
I think freezing spells will be great in the torment league - you just freeze the spirit and kick the ** of it.
So to the question.
You state that CI FP is not viable with low mana regen.
What is your opinion on a build like http://poeurl.com/y7ERUkV (CI)
Also, is FP a good choice for MF build, in case I put on a set of MF gear.

Greetings. I modified the tree a bit, removed the imo inefficient nodes and added more survivability. It has about 50% more life, 140%(!) more mana regen for that high level AA and some other useful goodies. Only con is the power charge i didn't get in the Templar tree and it's missing about 50% crit multiplier, but that's no biggie.

The tree looks good, but I personally prefer HP based builds they are the cheaper choice. When I said CI is not viable that was much time ago before Heralds, Freeze Pulse skill buff and etc. Now I think it's possible but I'm interested how you will manage to use GMP with the Freeze Pulse mana cost is huge.
